Default PS3: changing between CRT and HDMI

At the moment I have my PS3 wired to my Samsung 22" monitor via a HDMI to DVI cable. My current TV is a 32" Sony CRT set with Scart and composite inputs (yellow, white and red).

I'm currently considering buying a 46" Sony HD TV but for now it would be nice sometimes to watch blu-rays through my TV in the lounge.

Because the PS3 detects the screen, it causes me problems if I switch to another set. Now it's set up for HDMI output. If I attach it to my TV, obviously I can't get a picture. So I have to memorise how to navigate the menu to change it blindly - 9 left, 3 down etc.. After watching it on my TV, it won't let me switch back to HDMI because it can't detect it. I reconnect it back to my monitor and again because it's set up for composite, I have to blindly go through the menu again. This is so much hassle that I don't bother.

Anyone has the same experience and know any solutions? I wish it was just able to auto detect whatever screen its attached to but it doesn't.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

I think it's 3 beeps, it takes a few more seconds than three. But yeah, hold it down till it beeps 3 times, it'll reset it and you'll be able to see, but you'll have to reset the visual settings each time.
