Waaay too melodramatic. Amazon has been fighting price wars with manufacturers of a wide variety of products for years.

Amazon have every right to push their importance. I don't begrudge them that.

Many a blu-ray has been the victim of amazon's packaging but I agree the article is a bit over dramatic.

I couldn't get the article to load, but I assume it's nothing new from what's already been published elsewhere over the past couple months.

That said, you should [begrudge them], as it's the consumer who always pays in the end. Do you think any studio is going to sacrifice what they want/need to get out of sells of product they own, just so Bezos investors can pad their wallets? Ain't going to happen! At best prices will go up to offset amazon's greed. At worst, production quality will go down to offset it. And in the process the amazon faithful will be inconvenienced by having to go elswhere to buy.

Blockbuster tried bullying Hollywood once, and won. Where are they now? I guarantee you that losing the trust and support of major studios and other consequences of their actions, helped the rise of Netflix and had a LOT, if not everything, to do with Hollywood's expedited push to rid themselves of their physical distribution dependents.

So, I wouldn't be cheering amazon on for this. Even if you've got stock in the company, it'll come back to bite them.
