Taken from the other thread...
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=233822 Individual cases. Often times there will be a movie or two that I am not interested in/don't care for /don't like that is included. Example: Superman~ would get S 1 & 2 but not part 3 & 4 |

I prefer the best of both worlds: individual cases inside a boxset!
Like the new Halloween 15-disc set, or the previously mentioned LOTR extended editions set....this way, you can choose to keep and display them either way (all together, or individually)... |

I was definitely on the individual cases bandwagon, but I've always loved a good put together box set. Really, it depends on the series, special features and packaging. I own all the fast and furious movies individually because they are all in steelbook, but Alien, Godfather, Indiana Jones, Bond, etc are all beautiful boxsets that have more features in a nicer presentation. So I could go either way, just has to meet some criteria first

I'm a fan of theatrical one-sheets so I like it when associated promotional artwork is used for each individual title, which requires individual cases (like the recent Halloween set, which a perfect and desirable example). Otherwise, if the company that's releasing the set decides to use some other crap for art, then I feel they might as well just put all the titles in one package with the title of the series on the spine and front and leave the rest completely blank/white.

Haha, you have a point! I had never bothered to watch the Fast & Furious movies, but then "The Rock" came in, and he just turned that franchise around. Still not a HUGE fan of F&F, but I'm cursed to be a completest! That was just the only example I could think of outta my collection.

Yeah, my dream would be an individual BD case for every movie with the original theatrical movie poster as the cover. One day I really feel like I'll finally buy a ton of glossy paper and a printer and make it happen.

I go for individual cases. They usually have nice slipcovers which I prefer than a slipbox. Good examples, The Bourne Trilogy, Universal Monster Classic Collection, Jurassic Park Trilogy, X-Men Collection, etc., etc.
By the way, the OP should make a poll. |

I usually buy the box sets. I have huge collection but plenty of room. Box sets usually have more features. I usually get which ever has the best features and artwork. For example I will buy a digibook of a movie that's in a box set like exorcist or Halloween.

+1 Can't stand box sets... don't have any rational reason, it's just the way it is with me. I don't even like the double features. I like each of my movies to have a separate box. |

I definitely like a director box set with most/his best movies. A nicely designed one with a design theme and custom disc art, in sturdy packaging. I prefer the smaller, horizontal ones that sit nicely on the shelf without taking a lot of space. The only box sets I don't like are stuff like this:

Box sets FTW. Always. They're more economical, take up less space, and often include extra discs / features. I also get multi-feature packs whenever I can (as long as the individual discs are included, and no features are lost). More movies, less $$$ and space.

Depends on if there's multiple movies I like to watch in said boxset. I wouldnt want a Die Hard boxset because I more than likely wont watch any of them except the original.
However I was all over the Halloween boxset, cause I will watch them all many, many times. |

It depends. Like, I'm buying The Hunger Games blus as they come out, but I am very sure that Lionsgate will do for them what they did for the Twilight Saga (I own that really quite impressive looking package) and put all of the movies in a ginormous box set with every single special feature ever made for the individual releases, including retail exclusives. Divergent will no doubt receive the same treatment as well when/if that series sees it through to the finish line. It really comes down to one question. Do I like/love the movies in the set. The new Halloween set for instance, while impressive is not gonna be bought by me if I can hold against the temptation just to get the fully loaded blu for Halloween The Original Classic and the OAR for H20. I hold out some hope that Anchor Bay/Scream Factory will eventually release them separately.
