mods need to close this thread.

hd dvd has no business in the Blu-ray Hot Deals forum.

and to the guy bragging about having Tranformers in HD for months now, you only got HD picture, you don't have any HD sound on that thing, because HD DVD didn't have enough space. As Lucas said, Sound is Half the Picture, hope your half HD Transformers is good enough and worth the money.

and no, if for some ridiculous reason, everybody decided not to make blu-ray tommorow, i wouldn't run out and buy what would then buy a dead formats products.

if people can post threads for Recievers and 24 on DVD in the hot deals thread why are you threatened by a simple hot deal on HD DVD's???

Seriously, if we're closing this thread, anything that is not a blu ray disc needs to be closed in here as well.

i don't think DVD has any business here either.

receivers, hdtvs, etc. are all fine, because those are complimentary products to enhance the Blu-ray experience.

HD DVD is in no way, shape, or form relevent to blu-ray whatsoever anymore. It has no business on this site, and all it does is get flame wars started up.

Seriously, this is like yankees fans notifying great deals on yankees jerseys from buy.com at redsox.com

That's $6 per movie, which is a pretty damn good deal if you ask me. I can enjoy high definition video and audio until the damn thing croaks on me. I'd say i made out all right..

...Plus i've had Transformers on high def for months!!!
If Blu-ray died tomorrow that would mean there would be something to replace it, right? If that were the case I would stop buying Blu-ray at that instant and move on to the something better technology. I am not a liar and my proof is that I have not purchased a single SD DVD since I moved to Blu-ray (Dec 06). If I had bought into HD DVD, I would have sold everything the instant Toshiba pulled the plug.

As for Transformers, I would not have purchased the HD DVD version of it because it did not include lossless audio. I also never buy Blu-ray movies that do not include lossless audio.

During the war however I did buy some Blu-ray movies without lossless audio. But that was for the sake of the format war to show better numbers. And now that the circumstances have changed I focus on buying Blu-ray movies that are excellent picture quality and with lossless audio. Otherwise I rent them.

I mean no offense to those that hang onto to HD DVD. I was only trying to understand because my friend who continues to invest in HD DVD cannot explain why.

I think that since Blu-ray and HD-DVD are no longer in direct competition (although I recall a mayoral election going to a dead guy one time, but that's another story), there shouldn't be any problem with a thread dedicated to HD-DVD deals being posted here. If the mods disagree, and I'm sure that a few of you will have already told them by now (big ), then they can close this thread at their discretion. Until then, the HD-DVD discussion continues...

i personally don't care if people discuss hd dvd on this board, but i can see where people are coming from when they say that hd dvd shouldn't be discussed on a blu-ray board, there are other sites for that.

that's all well and good, and I do agree with you. But they can't be flaky on this one. they either cut out all the deals on Wii games/360 games/DVD's etc... if they they want to enforce this one otherwise it just reeks of fanboyishness.

what they should really do is have Hot Deals, which is relevent to blu-ray and Hot Deals Off-Topic, which pertains to other things.

I would have no problem with that, as long as the crap@$$ fanboism is checked at the door.

What about movies whose Blu-ray future is unknown? Why wait years for a movie to come out? I think it's safe to say that not every movie will be released in BD in the foreseeable future, if at all.

Then I'll wait for that movie to come out on the next format. HD DVD is a step backwards. I look to the future, not the past. Like it was mentioned earlier, they are selling a product worth $0 for $5.99!

Technically, the descrption of the hot deals forum is:
Post information about hot deals for Blu-ray software and hardware. (No advertising). Personally I don't have any problems with people posting deals in general (not just blu-ray). I'll leave that for the mods to decide.

On a personal note, I did the smart thing. Wait until the war was decided.
