USA Day of Anger (Lee Van Cleef) coming in 2015 from Arrow Video

Day of Anger (aka Gunlaw) will be one of the first titles to be released by Arrow Video in the US in 2015. The release will include both the Italian and English versions of the film, plus extras. It will be a Dual-Format release with 1 BD and 2 DVD's.

Quote:
Our first release will be Tonino Valerii’s Spaghetti Western Day of Anger [I Giorni dell’ira, aka Gunlaw] it stars Lee Van Cleef post-The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and SW legend Giuliano Gemma (A Pistol for Ringo), and is described by the Spaghetti Western Database as featuring “the real deal Van Cleef, complete with gunsight eyes [and] Giuliana Gemma in fine form and one of the best theme tunes you'll ever hear. All in all, this one is a winner.” It also features in the Top 20 lists of the site admins, Quentin Tarantino and SW author Howard Hughes. With a brilliant score by the legendary Riz Ortolani (whose music has been sampled in recent hits Drive, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained) as well as being lensed by DoP Enzo Serafin who worked with Michelangelo Antonioni and Roberto Rossellini among others. The only reason we can surmise that it’s not better known has been to its limited availability on video so far, but that’s all set to change with our new restoration!

I'm in for this. It's been out of print for so long in the U.S., but is definitely in the second tier of spaghetti westerns (just below the Leones). Now how about we get The Great Silence...?

That’s right, our newly restored edition of Day of Anger will be a 3 disc set (1 Blu-ray, 2 DVDs) AND will include two different versions of the film! We are working hard on finalising the rest of the extras now so expect another announcement about these soon.
Thanks, I've added that info to the op

Good of them to have such variety in these old obscure movies for their first wave, but I am still slightly perturbed by the total lack of anything I've ever had any interest in seeing (and for that matter, I'd never even heard of 1/2 of them). Their UK label released primarily stuff I've seen and was interested in, these have been wayyyy more niche. So yeah, having bought the first 10 releases there have now been 4 announced which I most definitely wouldn't have blind bought. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by some of them.

The Great Silence is one of the few spaghetti westerns I've sought out. That is one spectacular movie and it really cries out for a quality restoration...the DVD is not particularly good. It has possibly my favorite Morricone score and so many odd elements that combine to make it truly unique (the snowy setting, the incredible pessimism, the black heroine, etc). I'd put that one on par with the Leone ones, I think it's definitely a lot better than A Fistful of Dollars and right up there with the other three. THAT would have been an announcement that had me pumped, this is...much less interesting. It's definitely up there in the second tier with stuff like Death Rides a Horse, but I wouldn't have bought it. Ah well.

Always happy to discover new Spaghetti westerns, especially when they star Lee Van Cleef.

Day one for sure, this is extra good news hearing that Arrow will be releasing movies in the States.

Is this all we know as of right now?

All over this release. I wish Arrow could rescue some of the Italian titles from Raro, but probably wishful thinking.

We also decided to present the Tonino Valerii and Roberto Curti interviews as separate items, and have added a selection of trailers. There's also something that we're calling a "deleted scene", although it was only actually deleted from the longer cut of the film - for some reason, it's present in the shorter cut. There's no question that its removal was deliberate (the cutting is too frame-precise for it to be an accident), so we resisted the temptation to splice it back into the longer cut - the Wild East DVD did do this, but they didn't offer the shorter cut as an alternative viewing option.

Day of Anger Blu-ray REVIEW

Great restoration... and a real treat for big fans of Giuliano Gemma, like me

Now we need a restoration of Giorgio Ferroni's Blood for a Silver Dollar!

Beautiful! I was looking forward to what results this new scan from the original camera negative would yield, and the outcome seems to be truly amazing, especially compared to the garbage TC Entertainment released a few years back in Japan, filled with waxy DNR, and awful interlacing.

Looked no different than a shoddy upconvert. Click the links below to see for yourself.

So glad Arrow have finally given this film the treatment it deserves.

Loving the high praise, this film defintely needed a proper restoration.

Yeah Blood For Silver Dollar is a great film. I got the DVD from Germany from a company callled NEW and the pq is great on that but of course a blu from Arrow would be most welcomed. A blu of The Great Silence with a nice restoration would be nice too though.
