Default Bookshelf or Surround Speakers?

Hi all, I am in the process of creating a home theatre system for my basement. I have an Onkyo 606S, 2 RTi A5 front speakers and a 12" Venue JBl sub. I want to add the ret of the speakers soon and wanted to know if I can get away with getting 4 bookshelf speakers for the rear and sureound speakers. I have decided to get the Polk Audio RTi6 for the rear:http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/p...ookshelf/rti6/ Or do I need to get the surround speakers? BTW the basement size is 30' by 15'.

I would have thought that as long as you calibrate things properly, it shouldn't matter if you choose bookshelf over surround.

I've been known to be wrong though!

Either is fine. I myself use bookshelfs for my surrounds. (Realistic Minimus-7)

I have the Monitor 30s as my surrounds and rear surrounds. Polk stuff is awesome. Cant go wrong with the setup you are thinking about. I am using an Onkyo 605 to run mine and they sound great!!

I am pretty stoked bout this setup. I hope to enjoy it for many years to come and wanna spend the most i can now so that i dont have to keep upgrading down the road. I was gonna get the Polk FXi A4's: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/p...urround/fxia4/ but have decided to go for the RTi5's for the rear and surround sound speakers. Thanks for all the advise. For the center I am thinking of getting the Polk CSiA4: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/p.../center/csia4/
