So how do these Pirates and MAtrix sales relate to the attach rate? There are over 1.5 million BD players and only a few hundred thousand HD DVD players. I think the sales info shows that neither format is going anywhere anytime soon. I purhased both titles since I'm format neutral, but I definitely help raise the BD attach rate since I have 94 BD titles for one PS3 and 191 HD DVD titles between four players.

I love the way the HD-DVD fanboys are trying to spin this. First the box set is only being counted as one sale. Then it is more expensive. When those arguments fail, they break down the price of the three disc sales and then say..SEE...if each was sold separately they would have mad more. Ugh!
I'm going to laugh if/when/probable, sales of The Matrix on Blu-ray eclipse those of HD-DVD. Idjits! |

![]() ![]() Great scott. No wonder you're in favor of digital downloads. You gotta get some space back, son! ![]() I don't see how anyone can look at these sales and, if current trends continue or even go more in BD's favor...see how HD-DVD can really survive long term, "attach rate" MS talking points or not. When the holidays roll around and another wave of Disney goodness comes through and Fox suddenly decides to show up...what's HD-DVD got to go against the likes of that? This is before we even get into more output from everything under the large "Sony Pictures" umbrella. Content is king. Exclusive content wins. |

Latest Videoscan numbers are out for week ending 5/27:
BD 69% HD DVD 31 Boy, The Matrix sure had a huge effect. Just think how much money the HD DVd promo group spent on advertising "The Matrix" and yet they fall further behind in sales. I know JTK has said this a thousand times but the BDA can really end this thing this xmas if they get their act together. The $64,000 question is will they? |

Wow!!! I knew BD would win this week, but to think that BD actually gained ground the week the big HD DVD "savior" (the exclusivity of The Matrix) was released is is like icing on the cake. This is too funny. How many idiots over at AVS are trying to spin this? Is plazman out over there yet? I'm not even going over there until maybe later today. This is just so great to see the vocal HD DVDers get slapped in the face. If this isn't a huge message to Universal and WB, I don't know what is. Get with the f-in program Hollywood. Get on Blu, let's end this thing, and then CEs, studios, retailers, and customers can all move on from this ridiculous past year... What's next Toshiba/MS/Universal? $99 players with 20 free movies (and of course Robert Zohn will throw in a free HDMI cable and free double boxing too)? LOL. |

Let me put my swami hat on. The next argument from the HD-DVD fan boys will be..
"Just wait till next months numbers come in after all those cheap Toshiba players were sold!" |

![]() ~70% is one of BD's best weeks ever. That's amazing. The support Blu-ray buy-a-thon had an effect, but simply not much of one on Amazon? Quote:
We know the SRP of the new Sony is likely a starting point with the intent to ramp down retail over the year as necessary. BD is winning without slashing the prices. And I suspect as long as that continues the BDA are going to try to not drop prices too quickly. We already know the flood of exclusive major new releases that will be coming. If POTC 1 + 2 sold 23K a piece in a week for a catalog title, how many will POTC 3 sell? Gary Last edited by dialog_gvf; 06-01-2007 at 04:10 PM. |
