I want to get Klute & The BRD Set but can you actually preorder with the B&N sale or just order them as they become available during the month. I cant remember which way it works.

Grr. What to do? I think I'm going to buy the Criterion of One Sings, the Other Doesn't, and dip my toe in that pool, so to speak, and see how I like the water. Based on her reputation, alone, I'm sure I'm going to love it, so I'd end up keeping that copy to loan out to friends looking for something different. Should Criterion continue to upgrade her films to blu, I'll buy them. If they don't, I'll import the set.

This summer is as good a time, as any, to indoctrinate myself to her work, and Jacques Demy. I just need to stop recording so many movies on TCM, and get back to my blu-rays.

Thank you guys for all your help today.
I know that (TCM/dvr) feeling, trying to shake loose of it myself.

The import Varda bd set is really good, well worth the bother (and no waiting). Demy in general had a pretty incredible body of work.

Keep meaning to pop open the old Varda (complete at the time) French dvd set, but I seem to have gotten sidetracked again. (The complete Demy dvd set was pretty special, I did get through that a few years back.) So for me, still need to check out the Demy blu-rays I haven't watched yet and the Varda dvd set (just pulled it down, maybe that will help (thanks for the reminder ), at least for the stuff not in that blu-ray box set.

Filled my cart earlier today, and seems all their stores "near" me are still around . Plus all the recent titles that I am interested in are in stock at all of them. Finding them, another story most likely.

Saw a video review of Clouds on YouTube a couple of weeks ago, in which the reviewer described it as the worst film of the year.

Glad I'd already watched it before seeing that.

I am but a dabbler in Criterions, but B&N still got me for 5 so far...

Punch Drunk Love, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, The Magnificent Ambersons, In The Heat of The Night, and A Face in the Crowd.

Waited on the sale specifically to pick that last one up.

So, from Orson Welles to Adam Sandler.

Would've picked them up in-store, but one wasn't in stock. So I can wait for shipping. Oh, and even special "activate this coupon" coupons from e-mails are inactive. I tried.

/gonna have to pick up 1984 when it comes out, too. I'm sure I can find a couple others to add to it. Ghost World, maybe? Perhaps give Hedwig a try?

I don't know what its like in the States, but I had eight Criterion Bergman BDs (including Fanny & Alexander) and selling them on eBay UK grossed me the same amount as I paid for the box set (around £120 shipped in the last B&N sale). Fantastic result

Stuck Detour, Great Dictator, Modern Times, In a Lonely Place, and Asphalt Jungle in my cart. Will probably leave it at that for this one, but not sure.

Assuming they ship here. Which has apparently been questionable.

Got the ball rolling with two titles: Funny Games and the Jackie Chan two-fer. I'll grab more at a later date, really need to assess my wishlist and not just grab random titles just because they're discounted. It's unfortunate that Funny Games seems to be a misfire in the PQ dept but it's a film I've been wanting to pick up.

Funny thing about checkout. I chose Paypal but I was never taken to the Paypal page. After I chose the payment method the next screen was the "Thank You For Your Order!" page. Just a bit odd.

You can preorder at the sale prices (as I did with both of those this morning!).

I am apparently unable to participate in this sale as the online BN rep said that Criterion titles do not ship to Canada as of a few months ago. I'm wondering if this applies only to Canada or if other previously allowable international destinations are now restricted as well.

If this is the real deal, I'll happily buy directly from Criterion's flash sales from now on.

I wonder if this is related to Sunrise ceasing to sell Criterion titles a few months back, and the recent increase in price on Amazon.ca? I guess there must be a new distributor for their product in Canada, who presumably doesn't play well with others.

Or, if you're willing to pay a little extra money, use a parcel-forwarding service.
