He has a contract for one additional film after SPECTRE, but whether it is stipulated that he could leave the franchise earlier under certain terms or agreements, no one knows.

I'd say though - if he wants to move on, Barbara will let him go. No point in making another one with your principal actor not really interested or invested in doing it.

I reckon it won't be long either before we'll start to see the biggest stars in the Marvel films starting to leave one by one. Robert Downey Jr. looked like someone ready to move on in Age Of Ultron. To me, anyway...

Those "certain terms or agreements" are often something that the studios avoid like the plague. Especially with a franchise like this. Craig is probably set up with a clause that stipulates a "buy out" of some kind should they release him from the contract. Those "buy out" amounts for a lead actor in this type of franchise would be astronomical for a studio to have to add on to their next budget without getting anything in return for it except losing the actor that everybody wants to see in the role.

Cavill is a horrible actor and would be a horrible Bond.
I hope Craig stays for at least 1 more after Spectre.
if not there are many fine choices they could go with.
if they want older they could go with Clive Own, guy Pearce, McGregor, Elba, etc..
or if younger theres Cumberbatch, Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy etc

some might be better bond villians than Bonds but I hope they find a good replacement

Does Christian Bale still have any desire to play Bond after playing Batman?

That would be the end of my support for the franchise... and I support everything Bond put to celluloid so far.

But this will be his last Bond. Even more intriguingly, something will happen in the course of the film that will make it "impossible" for Craig to play Bond again. I don't know what that something is.

The knee injury Craig suffered was much worse than we've been led to believe and is now impacting how the film itself can be shot. But this isn't the reason for his leaving: It was decided before filming began.

This is actually a huge showbiz scoop you're reading. The source is impeccable.I'm only posting it here because I kind-of know you won't believe me. But it's true.

I suspect the rumours about Idris Elba taking over will turn out to be true but that's just speculation on my part.
You don't even have a source. Of course people don't believe you.

Tumblr would go into meltdown if Cumberbatch or Hiddleston became Bond. And I'd be furious.

I was hoping Clive Owen would've got the gig the last time, but I think his time has passed. I'd be very pleased with Tom Hardy though. Something tells me we might be seeing an Australian actor playing Bond, as I vaguely remember reading they'd approached Hugh Jackman a couple of times.

Oscar Isaac would be the best Bond by far IMO.

That would indeed be pretty awesome. I could get behind him, or possibly Tom Hardy.

I'd have loved to see Michael Fassbender in the role too.

Oh yes, Fassbender would be class. His scenes in X-Men First Class when Magneto was on the trail of the Nazis were very Bond-esque.

Fassbender is not manly enough. He would make a bad Bond. Tom Hardy is a bad actor. I'm sticking with Oscar Isaac for my favorite Bond.

Sam Worthington or Jai Courtney as Bond......*shudders*. I wouldn't want Tom Hardy either though, there's still something strangely effete about him which I don't think would be right for Bond.

The producers have always picked actors not involved previously with big existing titles/franchises when they've re-casted Bond in the past.

They usually went with someone semi-fresh in the role to make the actor 'theirs' and connect him to the brand of 007.

So, I'm not really interested in most names suggested (fine actors, but I'd rather have something new for Bond). Oscar Isaac might be the most interesting one in my eyes, but he's about to become famous with another huge franchise some 7 months from now.

Tom Hardy yes. Cumberbatch and Hiddleston? Nah, they are both too "pretty".

I was going to counter your claim that Cumberbatch and Hiddleston are pretty, but I didn't want it to be taken the wrong way . I suppose they do have a certain upper-class charm to them that the ladies find alluring for some reason.

How about Theo James? He's already in two franchises, but since his name isn't Kate Beckinsale or Shailene Woodley, the focus isn't on him.

A bit too young I think. But a good shout for the future.
