Got an update from Amazon Japan, looks like my order for the Archives + Blu-ray boxes (placed August 22nd) is being prepared for shipment with a September 1st delivery date projected.
My card's also got a pending charge from them for $363.08 so looks like things are finally a go! ![]() |

I am having the most miserable time trying to mux all these files together. I thought I prepared ahead by making some sub files for the BD's turns out even the TV subs are out of sync. Must persevere.

I got mine today.
![]() Within that magic cardboard box... possibly the most beautiful, elegant Blu-ray box set I have ever seen. I don't think any US release will ever look this good. |

Theres been a flood of used boxsets listed on YAJ! and similar auction sites. Apparently the disc folders are extremely flimsy which makes taking discs out a harrowing experience, and the outer cover is exceptionally easy to mark/ scratch, with some buyers reporting abrasions clearly present on new out of the box sets.
Several sellers trying to flip the things are even stating the condition as ジャンク (junk) status because of these issues. This is really shitty and just shouldnt happen. Wont be pleased if I have to return my set as soon as it reaches me because they cant get packaging right. Anyone here with the set experience the same problems? |

No complaints on mine other than the outer acrylic box being a mean dust magnet.
I won't say complains are unfounded, but one thing to keep in mind is that Japanese collectors are often SUPER anal over the slightest product defects or imperfections. Last edited by Thomas Guycott; 08-28-2015 at 06:10 AM. |

The packaging, from a visual design standpoint, is nice, but it is also definitely super fragile... The acrylic box is surprisingly sturdy (though even this has some minor dings along the edges, which is probably unavoidable due to the materials they're using), but I'd say the outer layer of the disc folder is definitely super prone to scratching... Mine has a few noticable scratches and scuffs here and there already as well. I'd say that I'm pretty anal about packaging, and it definitely bothers me, but this is a design flaw and I honestly don't think you can exchange it and expect to find one that is that much better off.
Honestly, this isn't the first time the've emphasized design over practicality... From my understanding, the Renewal DVD sets were also pretty similar to this in that sense. I understand that they want to make the product look high-end, but I wish they'd find a happy medium, where users don't have to be worried that they'll ruin the packaging just by holding it. The packaging for the Rebuild films are nice, but much more durable and sturdy than this, and I wish they could have at least somewhat based it on those. I'm definitely afraid of damaging the the packaging by handling it (pulling the disc folder in and out of the acrylic case will definitely result in more scratches and scuffs), so I've already pulled out all the discs and put them in empty CD jewel cases. And now everything else is back in the cardboard box.... lol... |
