I'm sure some, like Carpenter probably, are tired of talking about Halloween, but I would love to see one epic, blow-out documentary on the franchise.
Well there is this...

It's not as comprehensive as CLM, but it's a pretty decent feature length doc on the franchise. Way better than HNWJ.

Yeah, I've seen that before. It was okay. I was actually at the convention where a lot of the footage was shot for it.

Is this on Netflix? I just can never justify buying a documentary when it is something that I will only once and never watch again.

Never Sleep Again is on Netflix, so I wouldn't be shocked to see this show up some time in the future. But I would definitely encourage you to buy this. I've found myself watching it more than once, or at the very least watching one of the sections after I watched a certain movie in the series. It makes for kind of an ultimate bonus feature. Plus, buying it shows more support for them to keep making these excellent documentaries.

I've loved this documentary for years, though I would love if they blew it up to the length of Never Sleep Again and Crystal Lake Memories for the sake of us fans who love stuff like this.

SIDEBAR: I always wondered what happened to the girl at the end of the Halloween documentary who just HAPPENED to win the contest for a walk on role in the next Halloween film after she went topless for a moment towards the end of the documentary (coincidence?). Given that the next film was Zombie's first, I always wondered if she got her walk on..

Does anyone know the segment (or which film they are discussing) where one of the producers or writers describes a scene where they wanted to have Jason's tombstone, with his birth year & each of his "death years" crossed out?

Thanks!

Just finished the 7 hour documentary. As a fan but not aphardocre, I was sucked into the ducumentary right away. Loved the careful and insightful details for each of the 12 films. This is the proper love that Firday the 13th deserved! They had almost all the actors, writers, etc. for each movie. If you are even minimally a fan, I really recommend it.

Hope someone can help me on this. In the Crystal Lake Memories 7 hour documentary, at one point they mention Jason's continued stories in various comic Brooks's and graphic novels published. I remember they specifically showed Tina ( from part VII) and possibly some of the other survivors. I know I saw Tommy Jarvis fully grown.

Is there a team-up story with some of these survivors from the various movies going after Jason together? These seemed to be brand new stories...not just movie adaptations.

Can someone help me out? What trade paperbacks ( titles) should I be trying to find? Thanks!

I feel like most of the work has been done already for a super long Halloween doc, someone just has to cut it all together and produce a few new interviews.

Starting with 25 Years of Terror which has PJ Soles narrating and some great behind the scenes stories from all 8 of the original films, you could chop up:

Halloween: The Inside Story, Halloween: A Cut Above The Rest and Halloween 2000 Unmasked Which all pretty much tell the exact same stories for the first film.

Then there's all the Scream Factory produced making of docs which could easily be reused and expanded upon.

The Nightmare Isn't Over: The Making of Halloween II is only missing a few words from JLC and John Carpenter about the sequel.

Stand Alone: The Making of Halloween III Is already great, combine that with the new interview that came with the bonus disc on the complete collection and again a word from Carpenter is always welcome.

Back To Basics: The Making of Halloween 4 Already perfect.

Dead Man's Party: The Making of Halloween 5 Only missing the Director.

Curse doesn't have a Making of Doc but it has several different great interviews which would be cut together. All that would be needed to complete it is some new interviews with the Director, Daniel Farrands, Paul Rudd, and the lead actress.

Blood is Thicker Than Water: The Making of Halloween: H20 Is superb. Even Josh Hartnett gives an interview. All it's missing is LL Cool J.

Nothing new was made for Resurrection, JLC briefly talks about it at the end of the H20 doc but I would love to see the whole cast and crew reflect on it. I want to see Busta Rhymes talk about Wa Chung Lee and "Trick or Treat, Mothah ****ah!" and what a Halloween 9 might have looked like.

Michael Lives: The Making of Halloween (2007) Is 4 1/2 hours long. But I'm sure more could be said about Rob Zombie's film in shorter more retrospective form.

Halloween II (2009) This film has no documentary or retrospective of any kind, so a lot of interviews would need to be conducted. Although there was rumors of a massive one similar to Michael Lives, but not produced because it reflected badly on the studio.

Then they could talk about the ongoing legacy of Michael Myers, cultural impact and the upcoming reboot. Boom. Documentary. Why hasn't Dan Farrands made this happen yet?

I read somewhere years ago that she did in fact get a walk-on in RZ Halloween and actually shot a scene. I believe she is supposed to be in the aftermath scene of the Judith murder with the news reporter, but she is not seen in the actual final cut.

This is highly believable too because I was an extra in The Avengers. I was a SHIELD guard at the beginning of the film (the opening Tesseract scene). We shot for 15 hours that night and the scene ended up being about 5 seconds (and it's mostly an aerial shot). It was a cool experience though.

^ How do you go about landing an "extra" gig? And what's the pay like?

For that gig, there was a casting call on Comingsoon.net I believe. I just showed up in Santa Fe, NM and submitted a photo and they contacted me a few months later and told me I had the gig. IIRC I made around $200 for that one night.

I was just notified yesterday that I was accepted for a new Netflix series. That will be cool. I seem to always get FBI agent/soldier parts haha.

You're probably thinking of Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash 2: The Nightmare Warriors, which not only has Jason's survivors but also Freddy's survivors coming together with Ash Williams to stop both, albeit with plenty of bumps along the way.

Very cool. I'm sure your history of "extra" gigs makes you a safe bet for casting agents. If they ever shot anything worthwhile in Texas, I might look into applying. Sounds fun.

Extra gigs are fairly easy if you live somewhere where filming happens.
Usually there will be an ad put out in the classifieds in the area and through various sites and agencies.
You send a picture or just show up depending on the scope of extra.

They shot extensive behind the scenes so they could do another doco on the second film. " And so we actually made one for Halloween II that’s an eight hour documentary. To see if anyone complains that it’s too short. We haven’t cut it together yet, but I want to make it so ridiculously detailed. When people tell me that they sat through the whole four hours I’m amazed." But because there was quite alot of friction between zombie and Dimension films. It was dropped.

That's a huge bummer. I would love to see that some day. Any chance of it ever getting released?
