Wasn't aware this was coming back out. I missed it the first time around. I just entered a contest to win a copy, but if I lose hopefully I'll be able to just order one myself.
Was kind of disappointed by the original book Crystal Lake Memories, but this documentary looked great, and epic! |

Just got the re-release today. It's only the two blu-rays as opposed to the 2 blu-rays and 2 DVDs, however, for this release, the blu-ray discs have disc art on them, unlike the original release, which was just red discs.

They did reuse some of the His Name Was Jason interviews. They were just going to say the same things again, anyway. His Name Was Jason was done like one of those Remember The 80's (or whatever) shows where people just comment on random things, while Crystal Lake Memories takes you through the whole story movie by movie.

From what I recall, most of the interviews are original content. This is really a great documentary and an exhaustive one too. I felt that every base was covered and I have no more lingering questions about the series. I wish all film franchises could get this much love.

Since Daniel Farrands worked on His Name Was Jason and Never Sleep Again, it only makes sense for him to come full circle and make a similar documentary for Halloween. I know awhile back it was announced that a comprehensive book on the Halloween franchise was in the works, but then about a year ago, I think, they announced it had to be postponed indefinitely due to reasons they didn't say.
I'm sure some, like Carpenter probably, are tired of talking about Halloween, but I would love to see one epic, blow-out documentary on the franchise. |

The main reason this documentary was better than His Name was Jason (aside from the fact His Name was Jason never got Blu Ray treatment) is that Crystal Lake Memories is broken up into about half hour single documentaries about each film. So if at any time you just wanna sit back and watch the story of any single film you can just go right to it. I do find myself often looking back on the earlier films as opposed to the later ones although the documentary as a whole is really, really good.
