Why can't directors give us a collection of shorts in 3D?

Just lke the title suggests, I think that would be great. Just 4 or 5 minute clips showcasing the very best of 3D including pop outs and superb depth. Maybe animated shorts, special effects showcase, whatever. Each director giving their best to wow us. If the likes of James Cameron got involved, imagine what would be possible.

I think the 3D rarities disc has whetted my appetite for even more 'in your face' 3D. It might even get a few more people into 3D if they saw genuine 'floating in front of them' 3D.

Might sound silly to some but I think this would be great.
