Why can't directors give us a collection of shorts in 3D?

Cool idea; we would need a 3D team of directors who have embraced filming in 3D, and also those filming for 3D and then converting it to strong 3D. The project would have to be funded similar to how they put together The Animatrix, where several different directors contribute their own 3D vision.

Though I don't see it happening any time soon, it would be cool.
