The one that you posted is just the regular version, that will be sold stand alone / later.

First Print edition seems to contain a physical disc, because otherwise including a steelbook w/ space for TWO discs wouldn't make any sense.

Maybe I should buy 2 copies, I have a feeling that this will get quite expensive after a while.

For some consoles only. Wii U never got a physical release (in Europe that is). PS3 got one, although that version is horribly broken.
And Europe got shafted anyway, because they never released the last patch in Europe.

It's not the first time Nintendo sells a download code inside a retail box. Tipping Stars for the Wii U + 3DS was sold like that too. At least you got codes for both platforms, so you got the game for both platforms or well you could simply sell the second code/give it away/etc.

They do that for retail *shrugs* What are they supposed to do? Retail wants cases. Pressing discs doesn't seem worth it.
Anyone can buy it digitally anyway.

I mean it's not like a big game like for example Yakuza 5, where physical discs would make sense. And ...wait... Yakuza 5... Damn you Sega.
