I don't know if they're DC exactly, but they are Director Supervised and apparently approved. I think I've read that Chris Columbus prefers the theatrical editions, but he has never disowned the longer editions so I'm not sure if both cuts are close to equal. They aren't just studio generated deleted scene dumps. The same thing can't be said of the HP 3-8 TV cuts that get shown and people still are going nuts over b/c they aren't included. Everything I've read about those say the Directors for those have all pretty much said the Theatrical cuts are the definitive Director's cuts and anything else if a lesser edition.

I could have sworn Columbus said he had nothing to do with them when I was deciding whether or not to buy those fancy gigantic editions a couple years ago, but maybe you're right.
