According to videoeta.com this is the Amazon pre-order link for the 4K UHD release of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' with UPC 043396475380. The blu-ray Limited Edition and the blu-ray 15th Anniversary Edition have different pre-order links but have the same release date (October 18th).

Why the pre-order price is $34.99 at Amazon and $24.99 at Best Buy beats me.

Anybody know who we can write to ensure we get the theatrical subtitles? Subtitles are tiny files and there is no reason why they shouldn't include it!

Not just that but the sheer resolution is also letting more grain through which would otherwise have been filtered out/down for the Blu-ray version. And grain itself takes on a kind of softer, blotchier kinda quality the further down the chain of pre-print sources you go, it's usually at its most sharply resolved - and thus most noticeable in 4K - when going straight from the neg IMO.

[edit] I expect Crouching Tiger to look grainy as **** in UHD. I'll be getting the regular Blu-ray, for reasons I've stated elsewhere.

4K resolution more over than 1 billion pixels in screen. You'll see tiny grainy like ants...

8 million pixels, actually. But that's close enough in Opips-speak, kinda like how we convert MPH to KPH or metric weights to imperial.

Don't count out the UHD version until it's in people's hands and you can get a better idea.

This is one title I may wait for reviews before jumping on. If the Limited Edition Blu-ray is nice enough and the UHD version offers very little improvement, I may just stick with regular Blu-ray on this one like Geoff.

According to a German website it will have Mandarin in Atmos, but English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

The original language track is in Atmos, so that's what I'm looking for. I don't care for dubs.

Now, all it needs is the theatrical English subtitles. The movie was written by an American after all and it fits his script. The Chinese dialog was from translations of the English language screenplay from which the theatrical subs were based.

The home video subtitles are not what the characters are supposed to be saying.
