As a revision to that, in that case it's probably just that the natural daytime lighting is more obvious since well-lit areas are your usual lighter shade of grey instead of a lighter shade of stylized blue.

Folks may recall some discussion of how simply turning down the colour on the Blu-ray doesn't work all the way because it exposes some dreadful compression artefacts, especially on things like flames and explosions, but for a laugh I tried it with my UHD version and the artefacts are gone. I dunno whether it's the 10-bit depth of UHD, or the increased dynamic range or what, but it looks fantastic in black and white, retaining the brighter highlights and richer blacks of the UHD without adding any new artefacts. It's not the properly graded B&C edition by any stretch of the imagination, but it'll do me for now.

Did someone else saw the inexistent "Deal of the Day" Amazon had on the site for this? It appeared on every BD product page , but it has since been removed. I say inexistent because the price remained at $239.99 at all times. It stated:

Deal of the Day: Save on the "Mad Max High Octane Anthology Collection" with collectible interceptor figurine
Today only, save on the "Mad Max High Octane Anthology Collection" featuring all four groundbreaking films, over three hours of new and rarely seen documentaries, and a hand-painted collectible interceptor replica. This offer is available while supplies last and ends at 11:59 PM (PT) on December 15, 2016. Learn more

The Learn More is a link to the product page. Took a screenshot before it stopped appearing:

[Show spoiler]

EDIT: And actually, there's a review of a user stating he had a chat with support and they had no clue whatsoever on this promo, nor what the deal price was, or if it ever went live at all, even if for a short period of time. TBH, when I saw that I actually got excited. If it was $120 or less, I would've definitely bite.

I'll probably pick this up next week (the Black & Chrome Edition) when B&N has their 40% off sale and see if I can use a coupon with it.

So does anyone know if the included digital copy for Fury Road, in the blu-ray High Octane set, redeems in UHD?

I apologize for not reading every post here to see if this has already been shared, but I gave it a shot.

This radio interview was released in February of this year but was recorded when Fury Road was released. In it Miller says he wanted the film to be black and white but couldn't convince the studio. He still shot it with black and white in mind and hoped that version would be released later. He also intended it to be an almost silent film.

Is the color timing of the new box set Road Warrior the same as the single disc one currently available?

If anything, he needs to get on it more. If it leads to another movie like Fury Road, I will gladly support his usage of the Mary Jane.

It's the exact same disc.

The Madness of Max DVD looks awful. Literally looks like a homemade DVD created from a low-res AVI file downloaded off BitTorrent 15 years ago.

I'm going to wait til this, hopefully, drops in price. $60 is a bit more than I'm willing to spend for it.

Well, after this strange occurrence, the set has actually dipped to $150. I broke.

Any other time of year and I might have but, dang it, I'm holding firm for 50% off ($120).

I was really hoping it would dip that low too, but at this point I can't see it dipping again for a long time. I'm lucky I still had some funds set aside that I was able to put to use.

Question - how is the High Octane Collection, in terms of transfers/extras/packaging? Am I better off getting it, or just grabbing the Scream release of the original and the standard Mad Max 2 and Fury Road?

I would get the High Octane Collection if the price is right.

The MGM/Fox Mad Max has better encoding than the Shout disc, and Shout's extras, at least IMO, weren't all that sensational. It's probably why you can find it so cheap ($10 has been the going rate).

Plus the new Road Warrior documentary disc is only in the High Octane Collection AFAIK, so I'd go with it if you can find it marked down.

Yeah no matter what you do get the MGM disc of Mad Max. The Scream looks significantly worse.
