I can't understand how people buy a single disc or sell the DVD or Blu-ray and keep the 3D disc. Part of collecting to me is keeping everything original and complete. It would drive me crazy!

It bothers me to no end that my Beauty & the Beast 3D with the Lenticular is missing the Digital Copy disc! I've been trying to purchase that disc to complete my edition but no one is willing to sell it by itself. I offered $35 for just the Digital Copy disc multiply times to no avail and refuse to spend $100 to buy a new set. It still bothers me to no end knowing it's sitting there incomplete!

I'm the same way with slipcovers. That's why I rarely purchase Blurays from places like Amazon unless it is a pre-order. It taken a little over a tray and a half to complete my mint condition Toy Story 2 3D with Lenti slip. In all that time I never saw one sell for less than $80 in mint condition and I refused to pay that amount when you can buy the 3-pack trilogy brand new for the same amount! I finally had to buy the slipcover and movie separately. I never see it listed in people's lists of prized Blurays but it is certainly one of mine. Parts 1 & 3 are a dime a dozen so it's strange!

No, I think I'd be too scared of being disappointed by watching the 2D blu-ray after first having watched the 3D disc. I think I'd feel the viewing experience would be lacking a dimension (pun absolutely intended).

I don't remember any syncing issues but that doesn't mean there weren't any. With my active 3D I can get minor ghosting of the subtitles if I'm sitting too far off center. I also bought a pair of glasses from some random Chinese company that seemed inferior to my Samsung brand pairs but those are the only hardware issues I've encountered.

If ever there was an example of how 3D creates an entirely new immersive level of enjoyment, this movie is it!

Just like early two strip technicolor and vitaphone talkies, the most cleverest of ideas - utilizing 3D only in certain sequences. If one wants to knock 3D, then watch this disc, watch it begin in standard 2D and then tell me you're​ not knocked out of your socks when suddenly plunged into 3D. Or tell me the film would have the same affect if it remained in 2D instead of changing.

This little known classic horror film must be seen just to see the sudden jump from two to three D. Thanks to 3D archive and kino for bringing this to us.

The only exception so far is Clash of the Titans.
It's a great movie ruined by a bad conversion.

Hi active,

Because it was trashed so much, I was able to accept Clash for what it did have. Saw where there were scenes that could have been jaw dropping 3D that was just passable. Still, it was enjoyable despite its poor conversion.

Why can't we accept the bad ones, be disappointed and still appreciate the 3D for what they do provide, if the movie itself is enjoyable standing on its own. I had no thought of putting on the 2D version since the 3D was there and I do love 3D. Doesn't mean I can't be disappointed but not to the point I'd rather watch a totally flat picture instead.

Just watched Mojin the lost legend . The German version does have English subs and the 3d in this is quite amazing with lots of pop outs

I watched this beautiful vibrant 3D transfer of Moana on Friday, and it's definitely worth the cash. Sure, it doesn't always come out at you, but it has a solid consistent depth, which were subtle enough on the ocean boat scenes.

I have always enjoyed both Clash and Wrath. It was one of the first 3D movies I saw after Avatar and one of the first movies I bought on 3D Blurays.

I was shocked when I got on these forums and saw how hated it was. I generally don't say anything simply because I don't want to discount others opinions but I like both films Joe! Of course, I love Roman and Greek mythology!

I watched Passengers tonight. The 3d was mostly fine in this one with some shots quite strong, no complaints here except for the usual lack of 'front of screen'. The story was pretty ho-hum and predictable. I was delighted to be able to rent this since it doesn't have any replay value to me, but I am glad I was able to watch it once. YMMV.

The ship's design was fascinating, especially the CG exterior sequences.

I enjoyed the movie, i just wish the ending was more inventive and interesting.

Along the way i was guessing what was behind the ship's malfunctioning, anything would have been more creative than what they came up with...

With Rogue One 3D around the corner, figured I better watch Force Awakens 3D.

My first view was in 2D last year on BD, movie played better the second time around in 3D.

But I found myself slightly disappointed with the PQ of 3D disc, due to random video noise.

I don't generally compare to 2D, but I might compare this one, don't recall video noise in 2D.

Maybe the brightness is boosted on the 3D version, revealing more video noise? Not sure...

Life: Saw this in IMAX and it was AWESOME!!! The best "true" sci-Fi film I have seen in the past few years. It was SO MUCH better than Passengers and various other "Sci-Fi romance" movies that have been released lately and it's a shame it wasn't released in 3D! Its the closest anyone has ever come Asien/Aliens and kept me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath.

Watching the 3D and 4K versions of the two X-Men movies back-to-back was an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I would like to post my thoughts in more detail but am simply in too much pain right now to do so. For now, I will just leave a few thoughts:

* Certain scenes were more impactful in 3D than 4K
* Other scenes were more impactful in 4K HDR
* While watching other scenes, I actively thought how amazing it would have been if the wider, brighter, saturated colors of the 4K disc had been added to the 3D disc. That would have been the IDEAL version. The scene that sticks out in my mind is the opening sequence of Days of Future Past when the Sentinels are attacking the X-Men. On the 4K disc the Sentinels looked chromed and had a bright, metallic glean/shine that the 3D disc could not reproduce. Other elements like the beams of psychic and kinetic energy, beams of fire and ice and lights were so vivid and bright on the 4K disc that it left my jaw hanging open at times. Sunspot was such a bright intense orange colour in 4K that I can't aptly find words to describe it! Again, all of these elements were greatly muted on the 3D disc. 4K HDR rarely leaves me flabbergasted but this opening scene did several times.
Despite the impressive colour pallete of the 4K discs I still preferred the 3D versions over all. The 3D versions are still very colorful and without comparing the two formats back to back you wouldn't know what you were missing. All the colors in the rainbow can't convey spatial and depth information which for me is as important to the story as character development or time. 3D allows true immersion into each scene and into the world at large. It aids in telling the story and provides spatial information that is otherwise lost. There were many elements in this opening scene that needed 3D for full effect. In 3D the teleportation holes that Blink opened and closed, appeared at different depths of field within the frame This was something that was lost in 4K. After the initial battle, many more Sentinels show up and the 3D version really highlights how outnumbered the X-Men are when there are Sentinels in the distance as far as the eye can see. This is something lost to the 2D 4K disc.

If you don't have time to sit down and watch both versions of these films try watching just the first 29 - 30 minutes of each. I've never seen the strengths/weaknesses of each format as blatantly visible as in the beginning of these two films.

Hmm. The Force Awakens 3D is a reference disc for me (along with Doctor Strange, Jungle Book, The Wild Life, Maleficent). It's one of my favorite 3D Blu-rays at least. We seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum quite often which is interesting. I always like to hear people's differing opinions because it usually opens my mind up to things I never thought about or noticed before!

Yea, I was seeing video noise swarming in Rey's face...It was unexpected to see.

As I recall, there were examples of this early in the movie and in some close-ups.

I thought it might be due to the 3D version being mastered at a higher brightness.

I'm going to go back and find time points to check 2D and 3D on this one.

If anyone wants​ to check things out afterwards, I'd love to hear what you're seeing too.

This is one of my favourite 3D Blu rays. They did such a great job. For me Jurassic Park is my favourite film and I love it even more in 3D.
