Put on Assassin's Creed 3D, but was only planning on watching a bit.

The movie kinda grabbed me and I watched the whole thing right then.

It was a pretty decent movie with solid 3D, good deal for $20 with nice slip.

[QUOTE=infiniteCR;13394539]Joe, its a struggle not to jump in and yell "cancel your thor purchase now!".

And I lost the battle

Is Thor not supposed to be good? The two Thor movies are among my favorite Marvel 3D movies... I've watched both of them at least a dozen times!

My Thor Collection:
Thor 3D
Thor - Zaavi Lenticular Steelbook
Thor 3D - Blufans Lenticular Edition
Thor 2: The Dark World 3D
Thor 2: The Dark World 3D - Zaavi Lenticular Steelbook
Thor 2: The Dark World 3D - Blufans Lenticular Edition
Thor 2: The Dark World 3D - MCU Phase 2

I think the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is pure genious! I'm so amazed that over a 10 year period, such a diverse group of set designers, costume designers, writers, actors, directors and producers could come together to create such a rich, consistent, cohesive and vast vision! There is 2D, 3D, mythology, fantasy, science, history, space, war, science fiction, spirituality, mysticism, alternate worlds, alternate timelines, alternate universes, violence, romance, comedy, mystery - you name it! A little bit of something for everyone except maybe musical fanatics... but even then there is Guardians of the Galaxy in which music and dancing help to set the style and feel!

Apologies for my Marvelgasm there

My FAVORITE series of all time is The Lord of the Rings trilogy but I've met many people who just don't get it (pretty much any female I've ever dated)! I realize that as fantasy it is simply not everyone's cup of tea. However, I would be really shocked if someone couldn't find at least one film or character they can relate to and enjoy!😊

You have nothing to apologize for THOR is a great franchise. That being said the 3D on THOR & CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER both gave me headaches. Both are excellent movies and the 2d versions are the ones I watch. Since THE AVENGERS Marvel's 3D presentations have been top drawer with the exception of AGE OF ULTRON. While that titles doesn't cause any health issues the 3D doesn't engage as well as the other later MCU films. I believe Joss Whedon designed THE AVENGERS for 3D initially and the conversion by Stereo D was a last minute substitution to no ill effect. With ULTRON his attention was elsewhere.

Is it just my weird self, or do others among you have the habit of watching a 3D bluray and then feel the urge to go back and watch the 2D bluray included? At first I started doing this only because the Bonus Features are always included in the 2D disc, but for some reason I couldnt help it but watch the whole movie again in 2D, for some strange reason

It's just your weird self, Rocky!

[Show spoiler]Kidding! No, I totally understand this. If I have the time and I've enjoyed a movie enough, I'll do the same. Especially after viewing the special features. Watching the 2D directly after really gives you a great basis for comparison between the 3D & 2D versions.

Hi shaggy,

Love the marvel series. Replaced all the ones I had in 2D with their 3D counterpart. Fortunately, they were DVD or DVRs.

Never got the urge. I stopped watching behind the scenes extra's back when I was only watching 2d. I got sick of listening to everyone pat each other on the back for their crappy movie.

Last watched:

Jurassic World

I've watched this in 2D previously and I was not really blown away by the 3D in this. However I felt it definitely added enough to make it a better experience overall.
There was some weird stuttering every now and then through the movie though, which was a bit annoying. As a 3D noob I have no idea if that's due to my equipment or the disc itself. Maybe some 3D veterans here know?

No, I think I'd be too scared of being disappointed by watching the 2D blu-ray after first having watched the 3D disc. I think I'd feel the viewing experience would be lacking a dimension (pun absolutely intended).

I guess I like to compare 3D and 2D. Also there are occasions when others in the house want to watch the movie (or even re-watch if they really liked it) and popping in the 2D disc is quicker and more convenient when ambient light is present, and there is too much going on around.

Though I didn't originally plan to do this I think I will join you on this with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Star Wars: Rogue One and Passengers as those are films I plan on watching several times anyway. With Fantastic Beasts and Passengers I will be comparing the 4K version to the 3D though.

I like having the 2D disc for extras and as a backup. But in recent memory, all I watch is the 3D disc.

By the same token, I don't like the idea of just scalping a 3D disc. I still want the whole thing.

I did watch this in 3D in theaters and the presentation on the 3D disc was every bit as good as I remember.
Although as a film it is not quite up there with the best of the Potter films it is still a very good film that has some really great moments.

Although I don't find 4K HDR to be the revolutionary miracle that others do I enjoy comparing 4K releases The their 3D counterparts. I often find that the 4K version offers an entirely different sensory experience and enjoy the additional detail and wider, more nuanced color palette that the format offers.

I am in the middle of watching X-Men: First Class/Days of Future past/ Apocalypse in 4K to compare it to the 3D versions I watched earlier this week. There are certainly moments in these films where HDR truly looks fantastic and highlights details I completely missed in 3D. However, 3D adds a sense of depth and spatial detail that the 4K versions fail to convey.

The bright, saturated colors of the mutant skin tones, costumes, lasers, fire, plasma, explosions are BETTER in 4K HDR on my OLED than they ever could be in real life.

I'll post more details when I'm through but I'm enjoying this little marathon!

Interestingly FANDANGO NOW has the Days of Future Past Rogue Cut in 4K UHD w HDR which is not available on any physical format to my knowledge. That's what I'm watching now.

Predator (1987)

This blu takes so much abuse for picture quality. I thought it was fine on my projector. I found myself completely immersed, so I had no time to scan around for DNR or film grain. This was just a fun conversion, and will be my preferred way to watch Predator on home video.

I wish things had gone differently, and the studios had converted more fan favorites and neo classics like this. Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future, etc.
