Default DVI single or dual link?

My old tv uses DVI as an input of 1080i. The only way I can capture full resolution is to get HDMI to DVI cable. I notice DVI comes in Single and Dual link, what is the difference in two? And which one should i get? btw, i'm using PS3 as a bluray player/games.
