By the way, don't you get cold under that bridge?

Or maybe you are nervous that Apple will buy Disney and that will be all she wrote for your beloved UV and Digital HD through Vudu.

It has to do with people in General, most just want to watch a Movie in their own comfort. Talking about Film, Cannes Film Festival had Netflix there and they Shunned them. Saying that Streaming wasn't really quality Film. So this feeling goes across a lot of Film Critics. To me it sounds a bit Snobbish, and Streaming has to come into it's own. Like I have been saying, it's all Digital now, and we just all have to get along!

Not really, like I said, I don't want to be a Clone. I'll always be on the PC Side, and not go to The Dark Side. You Apple Lovers will just keep going no matter what, even off a Cliff!

So your friend has gone to subscription services only; no one here has argued that wasn't a trend, but this thread was always about actual movie *purchases*, and he apparently doesn't do that at all, either Blu-ray or Digital HD, so in this case, your point is moot.

My family members and people at work all seem to buy movies on Vudu or Amazon.

They think its weird I wait an extra 2 + weeks for the bluray

How would Apple buying Disney have any effect on UV?

I think the belief is that Apple would remove UV from DMA if they bought Disney.

Apple would also have the opportunity to impose the DMA Keychest on all their titles. It would force the hand of Studios as you can't dismiss Disney.

Why care what people think? Quality is important to true film lovers and collectors.

I am not a clone. Liking a particular companies products doesnt make me a clone. If you knew me, you would laugh at the clone comment.
I just go with what works for me. I swear by my IMac and MacBook. Had them years without issues. Apart from this site, (iPad doesn't like quote buttons) my iPad works a dream as well.

I like the best, which is why I still buy Blu-Ray. Soon that will be 4K Blu-Ray.

Film is a art form, it should be respected as such.

Guys, I really do need to leave this thread now, it's not good for my soul.

How would this change anything? I mean, Disney and Apple are pretty much tied at the hip right now. UV was created in part because of the proprietary practices of company's like Disney and Apple.

Ah, this brings back memories. Up until about a year ago, I had this exact mindset toward Apple products, and made assumptions about the people that use them.

Nowadays, I don't follow this logic at all. How does using an Apple product make you a clone? Is it the appearance? That doesn't even matter, because someone can own an iMac and/or a Macbook and use them 100% of the time with Windows. You can buy an iPhone or iPad and never use any of Apple's services (nearly all of Google's mobile apps are on iOS).

Android is the most popular mobile OS in the world (iPhones are prohibitively expensive in many countries), Windows is still the most used desktop/laptop OS, and Chrome is the most popular web browser, yet only people that use Apple products are referred to as "clones". Just because your hardware looks different, you are still using the same "brains" (OS) underneath.

Yes, with Windows PCs and Android phones you get almost unlimited choice in terms of hardware, but that's not always a good thing. A lot of complaints lobbed at Windows and Android aren't even applicable, because it's the hardware manufacturer that borked something.

Remove what UV from DMA? What UV movies are DMA?

Haha! Keep them coming!

"They're going to remove your digital movies."
"They're going to add commercials to your movies."
"New releases will go to subscription only services and end Digital HD sales."
"Apple is buying Disney and bringing down VUDU."

Sounds more like you're nervous that physical is slowly going away. Fewer and fewer TV shows are being released on blu-ray.

Nothing from Disney is UV. If it's not DMA, it's also not UV. Touchstone titles are neither DMA or UV. Same thing with Disney's TV content. Star Wars Rebels is neither DMA or UV. So I don't even know what would change if Apple bought Disney.

So, to summarize, the big difference between Digital or Disc is Convenience vs Ownership and which is more important to you.

A little graphic update on physical vs. digital through the end of 2016. Trends remained the same through 2017 so far, except digital sales are up 13%. My charts are based on DEG's data. Feel free to make your own predictions for 2017 and 2018.

Based on that chart, it looks like over the next 4-5 years, Digital and Physical sales will be about equal in revenue. But Digital subscription will vastly overshadow them both. As long as people can keep on collecting movies on their favorite format, it's all good.

This thread will likely whither away without Steedeel, so it looks like this very pointless debate will soon come to a close.
