The recent flash sale was rather meagre, and as I am not living in the UK, I can't take advantage of other local sales like the HMV etc.

Does Arrow usually have a sale some time in June, too?

I suspect they'll have a bigger one in late June yes, probably lasting a couple of weeks. The late August/September one might end up being another minor affair like the Easter one.

Thanks for the link. Skin tones are much yellower in the grindhouse release, also it appears some light DNR has been applied as well, the faces look waxy smooth in the grindhouse release.

It's not DNR, it's just that 4K fine grain is better resolved on the Arrow release than on the Grindhouse one.
I'd also have a very hard time calling the faces there "waxy smooth", seeing how grainy it remains.

It does look like a sort of averaging DNR though as it's made the face slightly clearer even if that could be quite subjective. Doesn't mean it should be done as you don't watch films as a series of still frames.

Both firefox and chrome are warning me about "insecure login" when I go to the Arrow login page (http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk/shop/ind...=account/login) following the usual links. Presumably because it's not over https; haven't noticed this before.

My sister's been having similar issues with a whole host of sites over the last week. I'm not sure if the recent Windows updates have caused a problem.

Uninstall them. See if that helps

It was a recent update to a Firefox. They started adding that flag to anything that doesn't use https, and some that do to a lesser standard.

I have a feeling Amazon just wants them out of the warehouse. It is a big box set and I'm sure it is taking up a lot of valuable space at their warehouses which can instead be used for faster selling items.

I wonder if Arrow does any market research before deciding to produce a big expensive set like HGL. Something like The Thing will undoubtedly sell out fast but this HGL set is likely just going to sit around for a while. It's a lovely set but the films themselves just aren't very good IMO.

HG Lewis was likely a passion project that will receive individual reissues of the more popular titles and discs. Plus I'd guess they got their money back on the extra limited editions as they were quite pricey.

I think the problem is Arrow's - it's web security 101 to ensure that you don't ask users to send their passwords over plain http (and once you are into your Account area, that really should be restricted to access via https); granted that Arrow doesn't store any financial details with my account, but if I'm going to give a website e.g. my phone number and address I expect them to secure access to it rather better than they are doing.

What I don't know is whether this is a recent change on Arrow's part, or whether they've been doing it for a long time and browsers have got better about alerting users to the potential security issues.

It's kind of obscenely large but beautiful. Difficult to manage, but looks stunning on display. I keep it out next to the Cult Cinema book and Withnail book (no Slip on it tho)

Ah ok, thanks. I thought it might be the same size as the set within the Shock and Gore box. That fits with extra space at the bottom, and I read that the Shock and Gore set is the size of a LP, which is about the same size as a cereal box.

Edit: I should say, about the same "height" as a cereal box. An LP that is.

In any case (I don't remember either if Arrow changed from https to http or if the browsers have improved their detection of possible safety issues), I'll drop an email to orders@arrow about this concern and how they should quickly improve it.

I would suggest other people to do so.
