Mummy 3 Will Look and Sound Better on Blu-ray
Posted August 7, 2008 07:58 AM by Josh Dreuth

In an interview with Home Media Magazine, Rob Cohen, director of 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor', is telling fans that the film will look and sound better on Blu-ray than in the theaters. He is confident about this because of his use of a digital-intermediate print during post production, where he tweaked the film print in order to ensure perfect quality.

Cohen commented, "Things that are dimensional, like the dragon lunging at the camera, in Blu-ray really knock your head off because you are seeing all the details we put in it that are even a little better defined. The dark/light values are better so you can be darker and still see all the detail. Plus you have many more layers of ancillary material, and much more information."

The director also is confident that "it will sound better on that Blu-ray than in any theater in America" due to the fact that he can master the sound for a home theater experience.

So excited about the Blu-ray format, Cohen is actively looking to bring his other films, such as 'Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story' and 'The Fast and the Furious' to Blu-ray soon.

This isn't the first time we have heard such claims from a director, and it surely won't be the last. Blu-ray allows filmmakers to give a controlled digital presentation in a home theater that is often superior to the presentations found at local theaters.

'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' is in theaters now.
