Default Blu-ray in linux

My company (and my customers) have been anxiously awaiting the availability of Blu-ray drives. We build a product who's function is burning large amounts of data to DVD's. As hard drive capacities get higher and higher and the price keeps dropping, we are starting to see the customer burning DVD sets of 5 or even 10 disks.

If Blu-ray was supported in one of the Linux distributions, we would be integrating these drives into our systems today. This means purchasing hundreds of Blu-ray drives at today's prices (~ $900).

Can anyone tell me about impending support for Linux? Is it planned? Is it not planned? Does anyone know how I could get support, i.e. can I pay for it?

Thank you.

Matt Schulte
