I appreciate the extra brightness but I definitely prefer my OLED in my completely dark room.

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but according to Nordic back cover Jurassic Park will be presented in Dolby Vision. Same goes with the sequels. It think JP is Universal release world wide.

Take that with a huge pinch of salt. There's a number of Nordic Universal titles that have DV showing on the artwork online, (Straight Outta Compton being one), but don't. I believe it's just part of their UHD artwork template.

Same here. Ever since I got a 65" LG OLED, I'll take the infinite contrast perfect blacks afford to provide a more immersive image over extra brightness.

I agree.

My choices at the time were either the OLED line or the Sony Z9D. I would have chosen the Z9D, but I just have a hard time with the back light pumping issue. The Z9D is the best among the LCD televisions that I've seen, but that is one of the more distracting compromises to me.

OLED has it's issues, as well. Like you said, the lower peak brightness being one, and also the near-black capability, but they were less bothersome of an issue to me. I know that's just the opposite for a lot of people, but to me those are more livable trade-offs.

Yep. Same. Was between the OLED and Z9. Was very close to pulling the trigger on the Z9, 648 zones is insane, but it was $5000 CDN. I also got an insane deal on the OLED. I’m more than happy with my decision.

Is it really such a good idea to get the box set, if there is still Fallen Kingdom and JW3 yet to come out?

Just a few notes sampling the 4K HDR presentation for JP1 on my TV...

Goofs are not corrected like the 3D master. This suggests an all new scan and remaster, though the goofs might have been corrected after the master was prepared, impossible to know.

There IS grain, though it does vary from scene to scene, shot to shot. Indoor scenes in the visitor centre look grainier. Outdoor scenes look a bit DNR’d, though of course this could be the result of the encoding. For what it’s worth, grain is more apparent watching on my iPad, which suggests the 1080p master simply hasn’t been updated yet. Predator was the exact same.

However... the detailing is very good in the 4K presentation. And the only way to go is up, so hopefully the slight smoothness of the iTunes version is just the result of the compression, and the actual discs look better.

Also, I saw no problems with cropping...

I also sampled The Lost World. Looks like a nice, detailed, organic presentation. Grain is apparent.

I think these will look pretty damn good on disc.

Nah, that’s just the camera phone. Screenshot looked super dark for some reason so I brightened it a bit, looks like EE as a result.

Was just taking the pic to show off the framing. Not the quality. I’d set up my DSLR for the latter.

Apologies I should have probably prefaced my post by pointing out the camera phone is bad quality, lol.

It is - but still not on par with the shot from page 60 from a scan of a 35mm theatrical print. The framing there looks a little more natural.
