That was the site which convinced me that the green on the old Blu Ray was actually legit: https://www.thefilmframes.com/thematrix/

So everybody can judge by himself which Blu Ray is closer to the 1999 Matrix. Much more shots are on that site, probably all of them from reel 1.

I'm having trouble keeping my emotions in check, and I'm not even a huge fan of The Matrix.

I don't have a 4K telly or 4K player but keep coming back to this thread and love seeing the excitement for this release. I may have to purchase this to future proof myself and get the remastered regular Blu.

Somewhat disappointed with the new BD, which was the main reason for why I was willing to get this. Seems overexposed, and the green filter for the Matrix scenes is inconsistent. Let's just say that I will still get this, but I won't get rid of the old BD either.

That building shot looks odd on the new master.

Still, I'm super-happy they resurrected flesh tones. Can't wait to see how the rest of the film looks. Especially first 30 minutes.

For a better judgement we have to wait on Caps-a-holic for example.

The old green tint was just exaggerated.

I never had a problem with the green tint, and the 2004 grading was supervised by the Wachowskis. I had a problem with the quality of the transfer.

With this new one, the quality of the transfer may be great thanks to the new master, but the inconsistent grading and the overexposed shots killed most of the excitement I had for it.

I personally don't care about the new BD, I was just interested in it to see what the remaster looks like. But I can see people being disappointed in it. There are just too many major problems: horrible encode (if these screens are accurate), filtering, clipped highlights problem is even worse here, odd colors at times... Despite higher resolution and richer palette with much better flesh tones.

I refrained from buying the old Blu Ray for years because it was mentioned in some forums that the green tint was wrong on the old blu ray. Now that I am convinced that the green tint belongs there I will probably refrain from updating to UHD. What a perverse world...
The green isn't GONE, the UHD still has it mildly. It's just not freaking neon green like the Blu-ray was. It's def greener than the VHS, but I saw the dang film half a dozen times in theaters, it didn't' make everything look radioactive like the Blu-ray

Filtered or not, remastered BD still looks night and day better compared with old BD. There's no longer ugly EE (sharpness is natural now), and colors looks more authentic. On top of that first BD transfer was plugged with clearly visible compression artifacts.

The new blu-ray is plagued with heavy compression artifacts too. Plus elevated blacks and destroyed highlights. Not defending the old master, but the new BD is far from being a satisfaction.

I have to ask. Have you actually seen this in motion, or are you just guessing using screen caps?

Look at "dodge this" shot. Half of the image is gone - ground, sky, Trinity's fair skin. Is it gonna magically re-appear in motion? BD appears too bright with it's elevated blacks too.

I need to see UHD before I make my final judgement, but BD so far, despite having a superior in almost every way master, is a botched job.
