I wonder if people from Hawaii or Japan would think it's stupid to create a tourist attraction on an island with an active volcano?

I like FilmBrain's videos, and while it's a shame Fallen Kingdom is getting such bad reviews, I still really want to see it.
The first thing FilmBrain brings up is that he didn't like the last film, I did. Maybe I'll love Fallen Kingdom or maybe I'll hate it, I guess I'll find out later this month.

None of these films, with the slight exception of the original, have ever gotten glowing reviews from critics outside of praising the effects and set pieces.
As much as I like all the movies in this franchise, none of them have ever been particularly well written IMO.

Here's Siskel & Ebert's review of the first film, and outside of the dinosaur effects, they weren't that impressed with it.

I’m really surprised by all of the negative responses to this film. IMHO, it’s the best follow-up to the original film we’ve had thus far. The first hour had me reliving the magic I felt when I watched the first film as a kid. Sure it takes a sharp turn tonaly after that first hour, but if you are willing to go along with the ride you’re sure to have a good time.

I feel like a lot of people talking haven’t actually seen the movie, that their opinions and comments are being made based on something they read or stitched together from clips in trailers.

Is it a perfect movie? No. Not at all. Is is flat, uninspired garbage? Not at all. It’s fun, it’s emotional, it’s exciting, it’s scary in a way that hasn’t been captured since the first film.

On to this...

I saw still cuts of that scene in youtube to try and minimise the negative emotional impact I'd eventually have on the big screen.

As someone who has worked with stray animals, seen them recover/ seen them die in my hands, the scene brutalised me. I mean from what I learned, the animals are left to a very dangerous and uncertain fate at the end of the movie. Plus, the movie shifts from devastating the audience with brutal imagery of helpless animals
[Show spoiler]being burnt alive, crying for help
, to a monster terrorising people in a gothic mansion.

I have been a huge JP fan, but perhaps I am too sensitive for this. In my opinion, that
[Show spoiler]death
scene should not have been so graphic. Little children will watch this picture and be scarred. Even the death of the T-Rex in JP3 wasn't tragic. It felt like the natural culmination of a fight.
And then, after all this, Claire decides to
[Show spoiler]suffocate the animals to death in the mansion? Another thing I can't accept is animals let loose on the cities. How will they survive in Man's world? Won't they be killed by the authorities? There will be tremendous human-animal conflict when the animals become desperate for food.
Watch the movie,
[Show spoiler]in a scene I would compare to the trash compactor scene from Toy Story 3 (don’t act like you didn’t tear up), Claire DOES in fact decide to let the animals suffocate, with a very heavy heart, it’s actually a really great scene and I’d rather not spoil it for any one, but if you have to know, feel free to read on... Maisie pushes the button allowing the animals to run free. (How they are surviving so far is shown in a short montage.)
It definitely packs a bigger emotional punch than the previous films, but apart from the tear-inducing scene
[Show spoiler]of the Apatosaurus and the rest of the island being consumed in smoke (it’s done very beautifully and calls to what a natural extinction may have looked like for many dinosaurs)
there isn’t really anything traumatic.

[Show spoiler]I was confused by Lockwood's death in this movie. Prior to seeing it, everyone was saying he was killed by Mills giving him an overdose of his medication, but this doesn't seem to be the case as it was very clearly implied he was suffocated with the pillow Where did people even get that from because there's nothing that suggests that anywhere

There were just two Jurassic Park movies as far as I am concerned:
Original, and Jurassic World.

And after watching the new one I can say, that absolutely NOTHING changed because...

Really, a JP movie majority of which is
[Show spoiler] set in some mansion and its cellar?
. The plot is idiotic, action boring, the chemistry between characters gone. First 40 or so minutes is not that bad but everything that comes later... well, Gabriel Cash said it all.

Saw it today. Wrote a huge review which somehow got totally erased.
Some moments of genuine greatness and emotional depth countered by moments of strangely stupid decisions by the bad guys. I don't know whether that's a good thing. I certainly don't hate it as I have loved this franchise deeply since its existence.

Oh trust me I dont. I like to experience things on my own but there is really not much backup for this to want to get more excited as mostly are expressing how dissapointed they’ve been. More so because I admire the director’s previous work and this sounds to be weak sauce.

I just used my promo code to reserve my seats. I'm not even going to a theater in my town, going up in Michigan to a EMAX theater. It's going to be close enough to a IMAX for me. Heck it's a 3D EMAX in Atmos.....I'm pumped. How many are going to get the free Jurassic World poster? They say its free, just pay S/H, so its not free if you pay $7.95 for shipping. I would get it for my man cave.

Change dinosaurs to apes, and you might have something there!

After seeing it on Saturday, I couldn't help but feel like they were trying to do a similar take off the Planet of the Apes reboot.

So, what’s the over-under on a dinosaur speaking by the end of the next film?

Wow, how wrong they were. If there's one thing that makes JP great, it's the so called 'majesty'. Several moments even. In fact, it's what all sequels were missing for the most part. There are resting points too and a lot of information on the dinosaurs. Heck, some people (yes, they are out there) said JP was too slow and there was too much talking, back in the time. But listening to this, these guys would absolutely hate Jurassic World.

It's a dinosaur-themed blockbuster movie on the big screen. I don't think I would miss it for the world.
