Considering Pratt has obligations to Marvel first, it may not fit his schedule for a release that early.

That they want to maximize anticipation of the next film while also putting it out soon enough to keep people interested.

As someone who enjoyed Jurassic World despite cookie cutter characters, I don't see where they can take a sequel and make it worthwhile.

The reason this movie did so good was Pratt's rising popularity after GotG and nostalgia from the first film. They waited enough years to let JP 2 & 3 drift out of the foreground and played the original theme in the trailers as well as in the movie, even had a few scenes that were callbacks to the original.

It was dumb fun but I'm calling it now, this sequel won't come anywhere remotely close to the first JW at the BO. With JW it was like the stars aligned, they pulled it out at the right time and with the right star.

He's got GOTG2 and maybe a role in Avengers: Infinity War to fill first, and they really wouldn't do it without him at this point.

Maybe they need that extra year to make sure the screenplay is not as idiotic as Jurassic World. The characters and their actions were beyond stupid in World. Hopefully they don't get lazy and just throw more nonsensical shit on screen because they know it will still make money even if it goes full retard just as World did.

Heh, my first reaction was "only three years? Way to pump these out for the money without taking time to think of a great story." Different strokes, I guess.

People are forgetting that King Kong: Skull Island is due out before JW2. Pretty sure Universal doesn't wanna have 2 huge monster franchises of theirs competing against each other in the same year.

It doesn't take long to think of a great story. They certainly wouldnt need an extra year+ to do so. Not that anyone should really be expecting a great story from any JP sequel to begin with. JW certainly wasnt a great story.
