Keep in mind there was still a lot of CGI and a lot of that was superb as well. The Indoraptor alone - you can't tell what is the animatronic and what is CG - they blended several shots and there also was CG replacement of what was on set.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Jurassic World! Before seeing Fallen Kingdom, I avoided reading reviews but couldn't miss some of the harsh headlines. I was relieved it wasn't as bad as the headlines I saw claimed. I voted 4 stars on the poll. It was more like 3 1/2 for me. I appreciated the ambitious arguments the film's script pursued about man's ability to create these dinosaurs, but I missed how well the first film made me empathetic to the main characters' arc.

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Post-Credits Scene Explained

[Show spoiler]"The short scene finds a group of flying Pteranodons circling, and then landing on, the Eiffel Tower. Except, as the camera pulls back, it becomes apparent it isn’t the real Eiffel Tower — it’s the replica in Las Vegas."

That feels like a twist in reverse. Because it was more dramatic before the reveal.

Yes, you are spot on about CGI, which only goes to prove when well-executed with a bit of imagination, it is possible to integrate CGI and create the impression of authenticity.

I didn't see the post-credits scene myself, though I was aware it existed. Had to Google it and read about it afterward. It's pretty disappointing, actually.

In my imagination, considering that the last shot of the movie is
[Show spoiler]Blue in some rocky landscape
, the scene would have been like this:
[Show spoiler]Blue reaches some digging site where we would see a very familiar man excavating dinosaur fossils... TADAAA! Dr. Alan Grant. They lock eyes... The (real) end.

(keep in mind this is not as far-fetched as it sounds. It was reported that
[Show spoiler]Sam Neill was seen on set one day. Everyone assumed it was for a quick cameo, although it was obviously just a friendly visit.
)

This would have been so much better than the scene we actually got.

I found the movie so terrible, that post-credits I was just excited to see
[Show spoiler]Las Vegas, a city I love to visit
.

It was ok. But, it felt more like a re-telling of the Lost World then anything new. I did enjoy watching all the unscrupulous rich a-holes getting eaten. But, I didn’t enjoy it as much as Jurassic Park The Lost World. And the whole reveal of who the little girl really was, came completely out of left field & really had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. I think the writing on this one was extremely lazy. They had a chance to really continue from Jurassic World about using the animals for military applications & what happens to the idiot humans when they try to control a creature that is really beyond their control. But, instead we got another version of Jurassic Park the Lost World.

Thumbs down

4/10

This was far worse than I thought it would be. As dumb as the last movie was at least it had some moments of charm and a few thrills. This follow up is considerably worse. Every single character motivation was either insanely shallow or insanely stupid.

The CGI may have been good but it played terribly in almost every scene. Either the actors couldn’t play off the green screen properly or the FX team couldn’t place it all properly. Either way, everything felt fake and nothing carried any weight.

The leads are again very likeable and Bryce Dallas Howard has never looked better. Honestly, a saving bonus of this film was watching her and parts of her heave as she ran from one dumb scene to the next.

There were NO real dinosaur battles until a very brief fight at the end that we all knew was coming. The rest of the movie played like a dull horror movie where people cruelly get eaten by dinos. I guess watching the one dimensional corporate villains and henchmen torn apart in the third act was suppose to be fun.

The piecemeal shallow nature of this movie never delivered and was perfectly illustrated by what we all saw in the trailer as the super-dino stalked the girl hiding in her bed. It’s like they filmed and inserted that in to the movie just for a trailer. Having it
[Show spoiler] happen with ten minutes left in the movie was extremely laughable because it’s so out of place. This crazed killing machine gently opens a window and slowly creeps towards the girl??? Truly b-movie bad.
This entire movie is one huge swing and a miss.

Went to see this first today as part of what became a double feature with Solo: A Star Wars Story. I freaking loved both films. Fallen Kingdom is so well made from a visual and aural perspective that even though the story was very conventional, especially for a Jurassic film, the direction and cinematography and performances keep it well up there. I freaking love it. It is exactly what it should be. Fun. And actually scary sometimes. J.A. Bayona and Oscar Fuara work some wonders with light and shadow when revealing the dinosaurs in this film. Awesome work. Now, where do we go from here?

5/5

I thought this was awesome. I knew once negative reviews started pouring in that I was going to enjoy it, lol.

1. Fallen Kingdom
2. Jurassic World
3. Jurassic Park 3
4. Jurassic Park
5. The Lost World

Keep in mind Sam Neill also thinks Dr. Grant is dead, missing, or retired on an island somewhere.

With the way Fallen Kingdom ended, I really want to know Grant's thoughts now haha

[Show spoiler]they were in the mansion and the choice was upon them to unleash the dinosaurs.

Your self-restraint is admirable. I kinda wish I hadn't seen the second trailer. The TV spots I avoided like the plague.
