I figure if its region free and doesn't have sync issues, I can order it in September maybe.
I don’t think you’ll have any problems with sync issues. I believe only the Anchor Bay release had issues and it’s been several years since they fixed it. When I bought the 15-disc set in 2016 my H4 disc had the sync issue so I replaced it, and even back then it was rare to get the messed up disc.

That sounds promising but I decided to get the original Halloween BD transfer that AB did instead for the time being. If it works, the 6700 is still being tested, I'll grab H4 or Wolfen next. Sadly, I have Wolfen on Vudu but Vudu only sells the SD version of the film, seems like the HD version is only available on BD, if its even still in print.

Together they come to about 25 bucks.

I have the German release of Halloween 4 with picture of Jamie in the clown custome holding a knife on the box. Is that the same disc as the one in the first link?

Wolfen is not out of print. The BD is great or about as great as it will ever be.

That is with shipping. Both together, plus shipping to the US is around 25 bucks give or take a little depending on where the exchange rate is at.

So I just got my German blus for 4 and 5 in the mail and just gave em a quick skip through. I can confirm that they are both region free and both upgrades from the Anchor Bay discs. Better picture and sound. Also you don't get that sync issue and the discussion panel is still on 4. Also for anyone that cares. Because of the slightly more slender boxes, they fit into the limited edition box set still and so will the 2 new steelbooks, I tried 2 other steelbooks in there to make sure.

I just got the UHD of the first movie and have pre-ordered the Scream steelbook release of Halloween II. The only other sequel I am interested in is the forth one. So as far as PQ and AQ goes, the German disc is the best one to get?

I see they have an H20 as well. Does that look better than the american release?

Also, do they have any extras or just the films?

I went through the Amazon reviews but couldn't find anything.

The opening up of the 1.85 frame to 1.78 put me off the German Blu (of Part 4) but are you guys saying it's still overall the better option?

I do prefer OAR, but 1.85 to 1.78 is such a minor difference I can't see that being a factor.

I agree it’s a minor difference, but it’s weird to me that they do that. I don’t see the point in it.

guessing that the finished product is also used for streaming to TV and that is the aspect for TV. rather than doing 2 separate masters they do the one figuring that no one will really notice the difference.

It definitely has better PQ and AQ than the edition in the box set.

Strange, although I ordered it from Amazon.de, I thought it was an Austrian release. I don't see anything on the box or on Amazon stating it. Maybe it's on the disc itself. I haven't watched it since last year.

Are there any reviews of the German disc? Just got Halloween in 4K, and plan on getting the Halloween II and III steelbooks and the only other sequel I really care about is 4. Is there a significant improvement in image quality over the disc in the box set?

Have all subsequent releases of Halloween 4 had the audio video out of sync issues fixed? Or was the fix just for the 15 disc collection ? Thanks.

I have the Austrian BD of Halloween 4, and it definitely has better PQ than the US release. Audio sounds a little better, but it's probably just a better encode. It's still the weird remix that's missing some sound effects (both the 5.1 and the 2.0).

I've been meaning to try combining the video from the Austrian BD with the audio from the very first DVD (pre-Divamax), which I think is the only one that has the original stereo audio. And even the 5.1 on that DVD is better than the one that's been used on every release since. In addition to retaining all the sound effects, the overall ambience is fuller and more atmospheric.
