I'm surprised that there's no mention of Brando anywhere in the "Dry White Season" description; I thought his scenes in the middle were widely recognized as the highlight of the film.

Only familiar with Forty Guns (haven't seen it though) and definitely plan on getting that one. Need to do more research on the other two non-upgrades. Both look intriguing though.

Brando received a lot of undeserved Oscar nominations.

I could be wrong but is Dry White Season the first film directed by a woman of color to be in the Collection?

Only Forty Guns for me. It's an underrated film and not your traditional western and the fact that it stars the terrific Barbara Stanwyck is just another plus. Prior to the tweet announcing the release I was about to buy the Eureka version. I'm glad I didn't, I never expected it would end up getting a new 4k restoration.

Decent month. Forty Guns is a nice surprise. Also thought Panique was with StudioCanal for some reason.

I'm not sure I understand that statement whatsoever. I certainly don't agree with it.

Brando's eight nominations were for "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Viva Zapata", "Julius Caeser", "On the Waterfront", "Sayonara", "The Godfather", "Last Tango in Paris", and "A Dry White Season". He won for "Waterfront" and "Godfather".

Is this another new millennial thing, now? Slamming Brando? Like they do John Lennon? Utter rubbish.

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to "A Dry White Season" from Criterion, as well as "Forty Guns". I'll already have "Sawdust and Tinsel" when I get that massive, terrific Bergman set in November.

Just the two I'm interested in make it an unusually interesting December for Criterion, who normally are pretty sparse in December.

Solid month where I'm kind of interested in everything, but there's a chance I'll never buy any of 'em.

Yeah, I'm not aware of this. McCartney seems to be the one who gets all the hatred.

I know it might be a stretch, but maybe considering the whole Last Tango debacle they are trying to distance themselves or downplay Brando's role in this film?

Millennial’s famously hate Marlon Brando. Everybody knows this.

Seriously though. I absolutely love how one random poster makes a cutting remark and you instantly blame an entire generation.
