This movie is getting great reviews so far! 94% on rotten tomatoes. Not necessarily gospel, but that makes me much more eager to watch this one.

Bumblebee was my wife's favorite transformer growing up, so she might actually be interested in seeing this one, too.

We'll see.

I can tell I’m getting older because the stuff I think looks great gets bad reviews and the stuff that looks awful does well. I should just buy some white socks and move to Florida already.

There are those who are calling Bumblebee a somewhat dumber version of E.T. with 'splosions. A sort of compliment compared to the previous Transformer movies that were just loud and stupid.

Story of my life lol. I unironically and genuinely enjoy the Bay Transformers movies (and I also grew up watching Transformers as a kid- Beast Wars and G1 - so I’m not even a “movie noob who doesn’t know better”) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just make sure you buy your sandals just a tad big so they fit over your socks comfortably. You'll also be more readily accepted if your socks go up to your knees. Also recommend you complain that the weather is either too hot, too cold, too humid or too dry... bonus points if you complain about them all in the same day...

Damn, did this underperform at the box office or what?

No one cares about Transformers anymore. Consumers want superheroes now.

I feel like that’s how the cycles work. Once video game to film adaptations start working, that could be what starts to steal money away from Marvel Studios.

Bumblebee looks (aesthetically) like an awesome movie that will shine on this format. I don't really care if a film is considered a "box office success". As long as it gets funded, filmed, released and gets a UHD disc it already succeeded henceforth to be enjoyed on the format.

The thought of seeing, let alone recommending, a modern Transformers film is insane to me. While I greatly enjoyed the original cartoon as a kid in the late 80s, the Michael Bay "stuff get blowed up real good" films were not appealing to me at all. When the trailer for Bumblebee was released, I rolled my eyes at what seemed like such a terrible concept. However, I had to admit I was a little bit curious when I realized that Hailee Steinfeld was starring in it. She has been great in everything I have seen her in, especially her performance in The Edge of Seventeen. When the surprisingly positive reviews started popping up last week, I knew my curiosity would get the best of me.

While on the surface Bumblebee is basically an unofficial remake of E.T., Hailee's performance really gave the film a lot of heart and there was just the right mix of 80s nostalgia, Smiths jokes, and Tears for Fears on the soundtrack to hook me. Although I have some minor complaints, I was pleased to find it enjoyable overall. It was such a relief to see a film like this focus on building story and emotion, however cliche it may have been, more than endless battle scenes (although you do get some major action at the beginning and end).

I will be pre-ordering the 4K UHD and I think it will end up being a go-to feel good kind of movie over the years.

Looks to have underperformed, but there's alot of good movies at the theater right now. Looks to be a matter of bad timing.

12A means anyone can see the movie if they are 12 and under

This is what always shocks me. I’ve been a fan of the original cartoon for a longggg time, and it’s because the movies are so like it that I like the movies so much (lots action, lots of explosions, ridiculous plots, corny humor). I always assume that people who don’t like the movies just don’t like Transformers in general. I’m always so surprised when I hear that fans of the cartoon don’t like them, either ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't be too shocked. I grew up with the comics and toys and original cartoons, but thought Bay's films were hot garbage. I might rent this one.

This is my favorite Transformer movie and I thought this came closest to the original animated series .
This one may be a bit cliché but it had some much needed heart this series needed .

Tsk tsk. Still shocked. There are even tons of things lifted directly from the show incorporated.
