It's been 7 months since Vol.3 ! We should of had Vol.5 coming in April. : ( ?? I hope it's the titles that Barndoor listed. That's a Great line up !! I have 3 of them but I'm sure the Indicator versions will be much better then Mill Creek. The Damned is the one I have been waiting for.

Indicator have already said that at least one of the titles required more work than they anticipated. Not sure why you seem to think there's a set pattern to the release schedule for them, they've never said there was. Would you rather get a substandard release or wait a few months longer for the best release possible?

Also not sure where you even get the notion of a Volume 5 from much less the rather entitled idea we "should" get it next month, we've consistently been told there's absolutely no guarantee of anything past the fourth release.

The Devil Ship Pirates, The Scarlet Blade, Sword of Sherwood Forest, and Pirates of Blood River. An Adventure set for Vol. 5. How's that. All Columbia Hammer releases. The other 3 volumes were all released every 4 to 5 months. That's why I said Vol.4 is over due.

Unfortunately The Devil-Ship Pirates, Scarlet Blade and The Brigand of Kandahar appear to be with StudioCanal over here, so they look like no-go's I'm afraid. Realistic remaining options would be:

Pirates of Blood River
Sword of Sherwood Forest
Passport to China
Creatures the World Forgot

Again, it can't be overdue if it's never been announced. Indicator have explained why Vol 4 is taking longer and said there's not much chance of Vol 5, you've listed titles that are mostly Columbia in the US but not in the UK.

Look at the standard of the first 3 box sets in restoring, where possible, censorship cuts and giving a choice of UK or US versions, or in one case a brand new "integral" cut. Would anyone seriously want to throw that away and go with a Mill Creek style slap-em-on to get them out quickly?

I'm more than happy for them to take their time over the next set.

With The Ring Collection, The Body Snatcher, Dragonwyck, Detour, The White Reindeer, The Likely Lads, Haunted House of Horror and The Karloff/Lugosi Collection all coming out March/April another expensive set coming out now would be more than my poor little wallet could stand!

The Karloff/Lugosi set has been delayed until June, so that may make things a little easier!

The inescapable fact is that the Hammer boxes have been the most labour-intensive of any Indicator projects. Aside from trailers and a couple of off-the-shelf commentaries in volume 3, pretty much everything has to be created from scratch, and that includes sometimes very extensive work on the main features, as Sony only provides HD masters of the US cuts. Everything else - sourcing of alternative materials, identification of unique footage, 2K scanning, grading to match the Sony master, painstaking assembly of alternative cuts/soundtracks - has to be carried out on our own time and dime.

We very much hope that volume 4 will be the best so far, and there are very good reasons for believing this - but for this reason, as with Night of the Demon last year, we're not going to rush it.

I have a soft spot for Hammer, but to be honest, there are only a handful of titles I really want to own.

Taste of Fear is one of them.

Any idea how long after the box set will this be available individually?

Only after the parent box sell out, and of all the Indicator boxsets only Sinbad has sold out and even that hasn't seen any of it's titles released on their own.

Essentially....you're probably in for a long wait.

I got the Hammer volume 1 box mostly for the Mummy movie, but also Gorgon, and sold the other two. I made so much from selling those two that the two I kept were basically free.

Just a theory although the same thing seems to have prevented Network releasing Vampire Circus
Someone who is in the know replied about Lust on the Hammer Horror on Blu-ray Facebook page that it was in the bag and to be patient.

Just a question, from someone who's never really watched Hammer horror before: Do the films necessarily need to be watched in order? It's just I recently got the 8 film set from Wowhd and it contains The Evil of Frankenstein which I believe is like the 3rd or 4th in the series (correct me if I'm wrong), so just wondering if I need to see the others first. Thanks!

Certainly not for the Mummy films, which are entirely unrelated. The Dracula and Frankenstein have some continuity, but to be honest not nearly enough to worry about seeing them in order.

I think Evil of Frankenstein is one of a few Frankenstein films that the series disregards. The next film (Frankenstein Created Woman) ignores it and carries on from the previous one (Revenge Of Frankenstein).

It also looks and feels completely unlike the others. They tried aping the Universal style a little having recently been granted access to the IP for those films but quickly went back to what they do best.

I personally see Evil as the first in a reboot after the ending of Revenge was a pretty firm conclusion, and all the others follow on from Evil.

You can watch them in any order though, really. Only the first sequel (Revenge) is a direct continuation from Curse.

With the Dracula films, the continuity from one film to another usually amounts to "...Dracula was turned to dust, The End," followed in the next movie with "...Dracula came back to life after having blood dripped onto his dusty remains."

The continuity is... a bit iffy at times. At the end of one movie, Dracula is offed on a white-sheeted altar in England... and then the next movie starts with him coming back to life on a white-sheeted altar in Transylvania. I mean... huh?!

You'd have to watch Dracula AD 1972 and The Satanic Rites of Dracula in order, because those are the two movies where Dracula comes back to life in the 1970s.

The Frankenstein movies... I'm not remembering a lot of movie-to-movie continuity, to be honest. Each movie tends to begin with Frankestein working under a new pseudonym while embarking on new experiments to create life. NB: Horror of Frankenstein isn't part of the Peter Cushing series, it's basically yet another retelling of the original Frankenstein story with a hip and cool Ralph Bates in the Cushing role and Darth Vader as the creature.

The only Hammer Films Frankenstein movies that should be watched in order are the first two:
The Curse of Frankenstein
The Revenge of Frankenstein
as essentially the series seems to be re-booted with the third one,
The Evil of Frankenstein, and no continuity follows after that one.

On the other hand, the period Dracula's should be watched in order, as they follow a sequence of picking up directly after the last:
Horror of Dracula
Brides of Dracula* (*to some extent)
Dracula: Prince of Darkness
Dracula Has Risen From the Grave
Taste the Blood of Dracula
-- not so much for the final time-period Christopher Lee Hammer, Scars of Dracula

Youse are incorrect about one wee issue there, folks - there is post-Revenge continuity in that Frankenstein's hands are damaged at the end of Revenge and he needs assistance with his experiments in Created Woman for that same reason. Otherwise, no Thorley Walters.
