Agreed.

She's also great in John Carpenter's television movie, Elvis, as Priscilla Presley.

Always enjoyed Season Hubley in her (too) brief appearance as the girl in Chock Full O' Nuts with then-husband Kurt Russell in Carpenter's iconic ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK...wouldn't have minded in the slightest if she'd have stuck around a bit longer.

Just noticed the marquee on the cover of the VICE SQUAD Blu is advertising ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

Yes. I think that's what Scorsese really likes about the film, too. He loved "Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer", too. He tends to like those gritty, authentic, realistic little crime films.

I remember reading long ago that he said that "Vice Squad" and John Carpenter's "The Thing" were his two favorite films of 1982, and that he felt the Academy would never honor these films, and that he found many of their choices uninspired.

Not sure if he'd still feel the same way all these years later.

I know I'd rather watch "The Thing" or "Vice Squad" than many Academy winners.

You are correct, they have never been released on DVD. The only video releases were the Columbia VHS tapes in early 90s.
They have never been shown on cable tv either, with the exception of a few on AMC around 1999-2000.
Local broadcast stations had them in the 1960s-1970s.

Yeah, I grew up on those films as a kid in the 60's. They played a lot in L.A. Especially The Amazing Colossal Man (1957)...

If Superstition, The Manitou, or Kuffs wanted to drop to $12.22, I wouldn't be mad about it.

IIRC, they had to work out an arrangement with TGG Direct (The Garr Group) to get some of those titles in the first place, so it's probably still with them.

Have you ever done a side-by-side comparison of Busey and Jason from the original Friday the 13th? The resemblance is uncanny.

In light of recent discussions over Scream's focus of late, I thought it would be interesting to break down their 2019 releases so far (not including IFC stuff of course), to get a better idea of things. By my count, they've released/scheduled 55 titles (64 films in total, and I use this number in the below calculations) up to the end of August. All are new to Blu (in the US) unless stated:

1930s - 4 (all Universal titles)
1940s - 8 (includes 3 Val Lewton and 4 Universal titles)
1950s - 8 (includes six Universal sci-fi titles)
1960s - 7 (One CE, a double dip; six of these are Hammer titles)
1970s - 9 (One CE; four of these are Hammer titles; one a double-dip steelbook)
1980s - 14 (Five CEs, including four double dips; also 3 double-dip steelbooks)
1990s - 9 (One CE, a double dip; includes three Poison Ivy films)
2000s - 4 (Two CEs, one a double dip)
2010s - 1 (CE, a double dip)

So really, the balance is pretty fair, though I think it's a little skewed in some respects. Of the 14 80s titles, only 7 are actually new-to-Blu. Similarly, of the 16 60s/70s titles, only 6 are non-Hammer (5 new-to-blu) - it would be nice to see some more, particularly from the 70s. Perhaps most unfortunate, of the 11 CEs, only 3 are new-to-Blu titles. But then that ratio probably isn't too different to the past couple of years.

Also, break down by studio:

Universal - 18
Warner Bros - 11
Hammer - 8
StudioCanal - 8
Sony - 7
Corman - 5
Fox - 3
MGM - 2
Other - 2

So the evidence is clear, we need A LOT more 30's, 40's and 50's titles. Bring it on Scream.....

Hopefully she'll reappear for an interview for the disc. She disappeared from the face of the Earth since the early 90's.
