It doesn’t matter when something was made or the budget. Even Vinegar Syndrome sometimes gives their Mono audio in 96k. Why because they believe some out there care about quality physical media.

As long as people keep settling for basics, studios will keep on just giving you cheap lazy releases.

We're lucky that during recent times there appears to have been some personnel changes at Warner and things that would never have seen the light of day on Bluray 2 or 3 years ago are coming out. So I'm guessing the basis for these Blurays are the standard streaming versions which won't have HD audio.
It would be like copying a VHS tape to Bluray after copying it to dvd. Why bother? The dvd will give you the quality thats available. Putting it on Bluray won't make it better

Although I would say the same would apply anyway. If the Popeye discs have HD audio you could play it next to a dvd version and you wouldn't know any difference.
But not buying these just because they don't have HD audio seems as foolish as not buying a Bluray when all you've seen are some screencaps.

I got my notification from Amazon about an hour or so ago letting me know my copy had shipped and will be delivered to me tomorrow.

I don't believe I ever mentioned anything about not buying this release, let alone for audio. But it's clear that WHV cut as many corners as possible to reduce their cost yet they're still charging a premium for this set. In my opinion, WAC would have done a much better overall job with this release.

Mine too, it'll be here in the morning. I'm so excited to own Scooby in HD. Not crazy about the packaging but I'll find a spot for it.

Thanks for the packaging shots. Hope mine arrives soon. I do wish they'd split Daphne and Velma up in the windows of the house instead of showing the Funko Pop in one. It's fine to have included the Pop, but didn't have to show it (also wish it had been full size vs a keychain version). So, I wonder, does the encyclopedia include all the info that the full size version does?

Not going to purchase. It looks like it's on BD-25s with crappy bitrates (only around 10 mbps), and the lossy DD audio. No reason at all for me to spend $80 on this "upgrade", I'll stick with the DVDs, which have ~80% of the quality of this very shoddy release. Waiting for the specific reviews, but am not hopeful that much quality can be pulled out of these old transfers and a max of 10 mbps video bitrate. Sad.
