Couldn't someone ask that the Roadshow segments be included in a seperate upscaled format, with two options on the menu so that viewers can choose whether to watch the movie with them included or not? I can't imagine the extra scenes would take up much disc space. Someone would need to actually care enough to go to the effort of including them though.

This is very good news. A definite day-one purchase, even without the "roadshow" embellishments. (To be honest, I don't even remember an overture or intermission from the two times I saw the 70mm version.)

Do you know if the sound on the master is in stereo? Given the film's subject matter and the performance of the London Symphony Orchestra, I hope some stereo tracks were made available to you.

The master is 2.0 stereo.

Duke, you promised not to mention it anymore. If it's gonna happen you can bet it won't be until next year.

Speaking of such....would it be possible to list maybe a handful of titles that KINO did really well with this past year?

For one I’m genuinely curious since that info isn’t shared much, secondly it might bode well for certain titles/genres that KIno may be more inclined to acquire.

The movie that I'm assuming you're talking about doesn't end in the letter "p", it ends in the letter "e".

Doh! You're right. For some reason I was thinking of the start of the second word in the title. Haha.

KLI, does Kino Lorber have access to BARTLEBY (2001) starring Crispin Glover? Or would you... prefer not to say?

Screencaps are up for Mirage (1965) at DVDBeaver. Unfortunately, it looks like this is the same transfer used for the DVD release, which has some serious shortcomings. See this screen grab for an example of significant DNR and edge enhancement: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/103/mirage_..._blu-ray__.jpg

It's a shame, because I had high hopes for this one. A new transfer could have made the black and white cinematography look great.

It wasn’t announced with a new master though, whenever that is the case, it is usually the DVD era HD master. Same with other labels.

I'm relatively new to buying Kino releases via pre-ordering on their website. Does anyone know when the November releases will (typically) show up for pre-order? Thanks!

I've come to learn that if it's a Universal title and there's no mention of a new scan or see wording such as "high definition remaster", then, it's gonna be a rough watch (compared to some of the other studios with older masters).

The review for Kind Hearts and Coronets is up. Confirms that master used is the older master used back in 2011.

Disappointing. Held off upgrading to the remastered UK blu in order to support the Kino release. The previous transfer is still quite good though- better than most of the other Ealing films on blu. So this disc should still be a good option for anyone without region free capabilities.

Coming November 19th!

Farewell, Friend (1968) aka Honor Among Thieves
• Audio Commentary by Film Historians Howard S. Berger, Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson
• 2004 Interview with director Jean Herman
• Theatrical Trailer

Color 115 Min 1.66:1 Rated PG
Film icons Charles Bronson (Rider on the Rain, Mr. Majestyk) and Alain Delon (Un Flic, The Sicilian Clan) team up to create a one-of-a-kind buddy film with a fascinating premise. After serving together in the French Foreign Legion, Franz Propp (Bronson) and Dr. Dino Barran (Delon) go their separate ways only to be reunited by an extraordinary coincidence. Barran is persuaded by a friend to sneak into an underground bank vault and help return stolen bonds. While he is hiding, he comes upon Propp, who is actually there to rob the safe. After getting locked inside the vault, the two very different men strike up a powerful friendship that binds them together through a series of shocking developments—from a miraculous escape to being framed for murder. The strong supporting cast includes Olga Georges-Picot (Je T’aime, Je T’aime), Bernard Fresson (French Connection II) and Brigitte Fossey (The Man Who Loved Women).
