Wow, a lot of negativity going on in here. Honestly my eyesight is so poor I don't even notice the DNR. But I am totally onboard with this release in the hope that Warner will start supporting Scooby on Blu-ray again. I would love to see What's New Scooby-Doo, Mystery Inc, and Zombie island all get Blu-rays(Zombie Island's animation alone is begging for a remaster).

If we ever get the remaining Scooby-Doo Show episodes on Blu, hopefully they include the right eps they left off of the DVDd for some reason.

People comparing this to "Sword In The Stone" should really take another look at that monstrosity of a transfer to gain some perspective.

What I'm seeing here is overzealous grain management and some color brightening (much akin to Batman TAS) that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. What I don't see is a noticeable loss of fine detail or hideously smeared line work in any of the provided caps.

Absolutely not defending the use of DNR here but it still appears to be nice presentation of a series that was never meant to be seen at such a high resolution.

You also won't catch me paying anywhere near the current price point for 4 low-bitrate disc inside a fancy box.

It isn't at all. The information in the video is all there. Fine detail is still in the video.

Color is punchy, and pleasing. I just watched three episodes, and I can honestly say this is a witch hunt for the sake of hunting. Watch a full episode from the disc, and then make your judgement. Don't judge something on a freaking screen cap.

Your eyesight is fine DNR if it was applied was used very, very sparingly.
The fine detail, and brush strokes are still very visible. So are the problematic elements of the source material.

I'm guessing it is the punchy, robust color that is throwing people into a tailspin.

Even as self-proclaimed film grain evangelist, I can still objectively see when DNR has been applied with extreme care to animation as opposed to a few of the irreverent rush jobs Disney has issued in the last decade.

We're not missing any of the actual picture information or detail here except for the grain itself. That's kind of impressive in a weird way.

Admittedly the show now looks too sharp and too clear without the grain layer acting as an organic "buffer" of sorts. I'm sure the original animators would be slightly horrified to see this under the scrutiny of a 65" 4K display.

There’s definitely less grain in the BD image, although it’s not completely wiped clean. It’s still clearly visible on the green statue. The screen caps on the site look pretty decent overall, if still not perfect. This show will never be released to Blu-ray ever again, but I still don’t feel like I’m settling on something bad like other releases in my collection.

It’s all subjective. If you’re okay with buying this release, cool. If you’re not, that’s also fine.

Not inferior. Superior.

Haven't purchased this. Just judging the image objectively despite my personal preference for intact grain. The fine detail is preserved so this new release is entirely down to aesthetic preference.

No i think that's more like certain people searching for anything they can ***** about in this release. even things that aren't even an issue. I am to busy enjoying my purchase to care about justifying the reason i bought it.

I clearly stated that I was only doing exactly that. I'll have my replacement soon enough and be able to judge for myself, that said it does seem clear as day in the screenshots.

I'm not trying to tell people what they can or cannot see or enjoy and appreciate. Just making an observation based on the evidence available to me at this moment.

Edit: all that said, I find it exceedingly cool that Scooby Doo, of all things, can stir up so much passion in people.

Would you prefer the opinions of the people who have seen the discs or those who haven't?

Only from the ones who haven't. They seem to have the strongest opinions.

Keep any emails about that. Last few times they told me to keep the damaged item, about a month later I got billed for it again "because you failed to return the damaged item". The Amazon is tricksy...

Excellent point. I performed my return over the phone and the follow-up email that the rep sent to me did not mention the lack of need to return. I am asking for confirmation in a response right now.
