I had my Sony S300 player for over one year without ever having problem playing a BD. Then on Black Friday 2008, I bought a Sony S350 player. Same thing. Plays flawlessly.

Some have tried to rationalize the OP's problem by suggesting static electricity, dust, or pet hair as being the culprit. Mine still ran flawlessly even though I had gotten zapped by static many times after touching S300's chassis. Yes, I suppose keeping the BD drawer open 24/7 would invite dust or pet hair into the holy of holies where the blue laser is, but is he that dumb? Well, I guess it's possible.

The OP's post clearly tells us what his intentions really are.
