"third rate technician"

This logical fallacy furthers the point. You have to presume that members here are incapable of identifying a proven professional in order to drive home your point. I can tell you factually the the couple guys in the States I'd recommend are world class within the profession.

You need to stop what you're doing all over this forum. Sincerely.
Not interested. Someone with a $20 colorimeter from Amazon cannot do what LG has already done at their $100,000,000 state of the art facility.

Chris
I'd guess that 95% of home theater enthusiasts are unwittingly or otherwise willfully out to resist figuring out what it takes to set up proper surround sound for the their home theater. We all had to start somewhere. Most of us began with next to nothing. For me, it was TV audio. I did have a nice two channel stereo when I became interested in home theater (about a decade ago) that I've been upgrading off and on for over 20 years. That experience does matter, but it still baffles me how so many will strive so hard to go out of their way to never figure surround sound out.

I can't come up with any other solution than for those with legit set-ups to expose others to what the real deal actually is. Minds will be exploded so easily. Merely 15 minutes at my place with a challenging Nolan 5.1 will end any doubts.

Don't take him seriously. He's purely looking to "shock and awe" people. Feeds on replies.

I’ve actually worked with real professionals who did video calibration for a living and was never overly impressed with what I saw. Video calibration is as much art as it is science. You can have two TVs, both accurate, and both with a fundamentally different look.

There’s nothing shameful in what I said. This type of industry has a lot of fraud and usually prey on videophiles who are just starting out and don’t know better.

All modern TVs have presets that are very accurate. Manufacturers are not these idiots they are made to be around here. They know exactly what they’re doing and know how to make accurate and good looking TVs.

True, but disinformation is harmful to those who are sincere about sharing and learning. We are left to our own devices to moderate this forum. Perhaps this troll will disappear if ignored.

Isn't there some forum rule against spreading obvious disinformation?

My take: if someone is that "naive" to take him seriously, then it's a lost cause.

Yeah but people believe everything they read/hear on the interweb, so I wouldn't blame any newcomers for listening to one forums 'personality' over another.

It really is an odd one. On SDR sources it's really hard to determine if low or medium is preferable. High will just smother the image in blacks.

But aye, HDR, high dynamic contrast is optimal to get true 4K HDR as I said.

EDIT: I suspect what the TV is doing in HDR is not fully using the Dynamic Contrast. But having it set on high allows the metadata to fully utilize the contrast of the screen. Having it off there for throttles the metadata. My totally non professional opinon. Let's see what the tec brains say here.

Now we've come to the point of spreading misinformation. I'm glad to see this little post had the intended effect of luring Nore in.

I'm not the most tec savvy guy in the world. But had I genuinely been this much of a noob, and went on Nores recommendations. I would have indeed been given inaccurate information.

I'm sorry if anyone else got unintentionally caught up. But had to maintain appearances.

No my soundbar doesn't face the wall. I sent that picture ages ago to a friend.

We're talking "kilts", not "kilts of 2003".

The only dimension tombstone is in the one that bloody awful. Tombstone looks like a rejected episode of Gunsmoke.
