Anybody? I am hesitant to order from the UK - I am bit out of step on the technology side of things, but aren't discs region locked?

Yeah, I've got the Australian version of the 50-film Warners set and not only is almost none of the disc visible, most of them are so tight it's a five-minute wrestle to get them out, and getting fingerprints all over the read side is unavoidable. Very much looking forward to the day I can get those on my Emby server and never have to deal with them again.

They don't have world building because the disney films are remakes/rehashes. They offer no new content, attack of the clones was innovative at the time for its use of digital technology. Can anyone name one innovative thing about the force awakens? No.

I reached out to Best Buy Canada and they told me they anticipate having it but could not confirm that or an ETA. |

Attack of the Clones had innovative digital technology, but literally everything else about it sucked imo. And the digital parts haven’t held up well over time imo. ...they just make it look like a video game. ![]() |

"We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?" is funny and tension relief, but it's not great dialogue. And you're definitely right in that arguing about The Last Jedi is like a political argument in current climes. Everyone's made up their mind about what's what, and refuses to budge. |

The 4K discs will be region-free. There has yet to be any 4K release that's region locked. As for Blu-ray discs, it's generally a crap-shoot. But Disney, along with Warner, typically do not region lock their discs. Region-locking tends to be used to ensure that different rights-holders in different markets are "protected". Disney (and Warner) tend to have worldwide rights to their films, so there's no need to lock them.

(2) I don't think it's "intentionally stupid". It's meant to be humorous. And it is. People laugh. And they laugh with it, not laugh at it. But "funny" dialogue (as opposed to, say, "witty" dialogue) tends to reflect the circumstances of the scene, and is not, in itself, necessarily good dialogue. The writing as a whole (not just the dialogue) throughout the series is OK at best, and more often than not, clunky. Well, there might well be a line here or there that rises above. But the writers of the SW movies just don't hold a candle to writers like Ernest Lehman, William Goldman, Robert Towne, Ethan Coen, Elmore Leonard, Woody Allen (regardless of what you might think of the man himself, his writing is terrific), et alia. It will surely be available elsewhere. I’m hoping a region that cares a little more about quality packaging will get it, like Korea.
Was hoping for Steelbooks but BestBuy pretty much always gets those as exclusives in the US and they have this set already so they’re unlikely to also run exclusive steelbooks alongside it, at least right now. |

I'm sure that the exclusivity will be relatively short term, and that all of the films will be getting their own 4K releases somewhere down the road. And there will undoubtedly be another set of all nine films released, though in different packaging. Yes, but maybe not later. BB, for example, released the three Matrix films in SteelBooks individually, and later as a SteelBook set. And then did the same with the 90s Batman films. I've little doubt that there will be BBSBs for the individual films later in the year. |
