I'm hoping they can add in "Enter the Dragon" by the time the box set comes out. Janus likely couldn't get that one from Warner for distribution, but Criterion maybe can, for home video.

Weren't these released in quality editions from Shout Factory (the ones that went OOP)? I'm not sure Criterion can really add much to these four films.

They will be bringing them back in print, which is the best news here.

Well...

Better subtitles for one, plus someone needs to source a better Mandarin mono track for Fist of Fury

not so sure that exists though. as i'm sure most old school kung fu fans know these films weren't treated all that well by the studios and were considered totally disposable at the time. preservation efforts really weren't made. Golden Harvest and Shaw Bros. made a little effort which is why we have elements for thse to begin with but i wouldn't be surprised it the sound elements aren't around anymore

Hopefully it includes the English dubs for nostalgia purposes

This is really exciting in itself since I don't own them already, but I really super hope they can include Enter the Dragon as well.

Enter The Dragon should be on there too. At least there's no Game of Death 2.

Game of Death 2 is great. Anyway, that Janus films listing says Game Of Death is 39 minutes, which was the length of the Bruce Lee reconstructed footage on the Artport DVD. Maybe that's what they are releasing and not the cut and paste job. Would be great to get that footage in HD.

I don’t believe Warner has ever licensed to Criterion for Blu-rays, so I would not expect Enter The Dragon unless they can secure a one off deal.

Honestly, I don't know what Criterion can do that Shout! Factory didn't already do with their blu-rays. They had great picture and sound, had a ton of audio options, and the special features were spot on. I mean, Criterion can add in some docs on Bruce and maybe kung fu movies in general, but I have what I really need from these films. Not much anyone could add. Being a huge fan of Bruce Lee, unless Criterion does something really special with these films, I might have to sit this one out.

I was pretty satisfied with the recent Shout Factory bluray editions. However, I'd probably buy these again if Enter the Dragon is included in the set.

Hopefully this means Criterion is going to release a lot more classic Hong Kong cinema in the future. 88 Films and Eureka are doing a great job putting out Golden Harvest and Shaw Brothers films in the UK. We need someone in the US to do the same on this side of the pond. Criterion put out the Police Story double and now they are bringing the Bruce Lee films back in print. That's a good start.

How about some of that lost footage that apparently still exists in some private collector's hands.

Criterion works with Warner frequently. So it's possible.
