Peter Sellers character is a pastiche of a number of different literary characters from the early 20th century. I presume (probably mistakenly) by now that most people understand it represents the sensibilities of the time that the character was created in and can subsequently put it into context, and that they can actually watch the film without having to call it out when they talk about the film.

People are allowed to talk about what they want with movies. If you don’t like it or it triggers you so badly, then don’t read it.
