So now they do like Shout does & announces them 3 months in advance? I have no doubt the trilogy will be released in October to coincide with the 35th anniversary.

I hope the same Universal team that was responsible for the AWESOME Jaws 4K is in charge of overseeing the Back to the Future 4K trilogy.

Man, I hope this is out on Oct. 27 (my birthday). Ever since I was a kid, I always felt an attachment to the trilogy because it ended [in film time] on the day I was born in 1985.

I believe he praised the transfers before Universal tampered with them for the BDs. Then when people complain about how bad they look, he has the nerve to say they don’t know what they’re talking about.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure he praised the BDs themselves. If he was just talking about the 2002 transfers in general (yes, that's how old they are) and assumed the BDs were untouched then that's fair enough, but then it raises another question: if he's so hands on with BTTF then how the hell didn't he know that Universal gimped the BDs like that? Doesn't inspire confidence either way.

During an interview on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future, Bob Gale, BTTF creator, producer and co-writer, said he had seen the movie projected days ago and he thought "it looks so good, so much better than it did in 1985", when it opened in theaters. He further explained: "When they did the remastering for the Blu-ray they spent over 400 hours doing dirt cleanup, and almost another 200 hours doing color correction, so the movie looks better than it ever did." When a film is shown at the theater, "you have the print going through the projector, it picks up dirt, gets scratched and with the digital technology these guys fixed almost all of that stuff, and it just looks breathtaking." https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5083 |

Guy is prob. just clueless which is an upgrade from my old thoughts he was a knowing grifter. He strikes me as an easily pleased boomer, PQ speaking.
So just sign off on completed works with no notes. And don't you dare say "why doesn't it look like the blu-rays" during any part of the process you are part of. Don't dare... |
