I tried to order with my re-loadable visa card (not enough funds on it) and it gave me an error, on my visa card status website I see they tried to charge the full price on it.

Ordered amazon hoverboard version instead.

All this talk about Digipacks and scratched discs. After 8 years it's not pristine but I have no playback issues.

I don't usually like over-sized packaging but I'm cool with this one. Just wish it had better artwork.

I believe that will be the standard release that all retailers will be stocking.

So far so good! I used them on my 30th Dragon Ball Z bluray set (where the discs are practically suction cupped to the sleeve and using these not only gave me a little "pull" tab but it greatly reduced the friction.

I don't see any pages for standard releases. Just the retailer exclusives.

After being majorly let down by Warner for their lazy Goonies 4K release with no Atmos track, just DTS-HD 5.1 and no Dolby Vision...this is excellent news. THIS is how you release a beloved classic on 4K, WB...get with it.

On another note, if a tiny scratch caused by a minuscule piece of dust can irreparably harm a professionally pressed disc you pay $30 for, then the flaw isn't in the packaging, it's in the disc itself. (And since blu-rays have scratch-resistant coating, that means that even if they do get tiny surface scratches, it doesn't affect the disc.)

I bet some of you buy a new car and are afraid to drive it, in case it gets a tiny scratch on the paint.

I love seeing all these companies going to packaging like this, since it saves a ton of shelf space and has never proven to be harmful to discs.
no way cardboard should be able to scratch the coating on a blu-ray, unless maybe you are overly filthy rich to the point you are wallowing in diamond dust and it's all over the house

Best Buy added the standard 4k edition. It's $15 less than the steelbook. As much as I prefer the artwork for the steelbooks I'm just not sure it's worth $5 extra per movie.

I'm not the biggest fan of digibooks or steelbooks and i prefer each film in it's own amaray case so i guess my only option is the Best Buy exclusive. I just hope the discs aren't stacked.

EDIT: Is there any chance Universal will release these individually in standard amaray cases?

Would have preferred all the Eric Stolz footage over the audition tapes but oh well.

It might be a while. The Jurassic movies (1 - 4) have yet to be released individually. On the other hand the Mummy movies from Universal have been released separately after the initial trilogy set.

Well if there had to be a franchise that I couldn't help but be forced to buy a boxset for it was good that at least it was this one! They will come individually at some point but I just can't wait, or I gift the set to the old man for xmas if the individuals are out by then.

Glad to hear it's gonna be DV as well as Atmos! That's awesome.

Whats this great taboo over the Eric Stolz footage? Just release it (or some of it). Its like its a Hollywood forbidden topic. Or does Eric have some kind of court order for them never to show it or something?

Also the coverart is horrendous, but then BTTF seems to have suffered quite a bit on home formats for that aspect. Surely they can just use the classic "marty stood outside the car looking at his watch" art? I find it hard to believe that Universal own the rights to the franchise, but don't own the art image rights...?

I’ve said this before, but I’ve never had any problems with the cardboard packs of the sets I’ve got.
Spider-Man, Uni’s Jurassic and F&F sets. In fact, I’ve just looked at all the discs again and every one of them is still like new. The discs are easy to slip out, especially the Uni ones.
The inner artwork with the proper posters for BTTF looks cool too.

What can I say...I’m fine with the cardboard! Although I get the resistance from those who’ve experienced problems.
