The bluray itself is extremely bright compared to the DVD.

The key is how the whites look in the show which are many. I would not call this bluray dark by a long stretch.

Btw looking at the gifs above, doesn't Linda Carter have a Tinto Brass actress quality? Just so classic.

I share your sentiment. There are worse ills of the world like Weird Science (first edition) or Predator. Slamming stuff as beautiiful as these just don't seem right.

I'll have to compare the Blu-ray to the DVD then. The DVD which I only bought a few months ago to replace my old ones and now regret because I had no idea at the time that the Blu-rays would be coming out.

When you take details in the highlights (for example the folds in a white shirt or the details through a window (see below)) and raise the levels to the point where it's all one thing.

Your basically nuking an object to make the area brighter.

Starting with The Key for beginners and moving forward. One will see exactly what I mean! My personal favorite is Cosi fan tutte, followed closely by Monamour to go for the win with Cheeky and The Voyeur (though I find this movie quite erotic with the finale being a double entendre to end all ones).
