It sometimes can take a bit of work to get set up correctly, but it is easy to use once you get it working. Another option is to learn Davinci Resolve. It would theoretically give you the best results and most control over correcting the color, but be prepared to watch lots of tutorial videos to learn it. I haven't gotten that far with it because I know other tools already.

Here is a screenshot of me playing with the sliders in Virtualdub's 6-Axis Color Correction. Virtualdub is free and you can download it and try it for yourself. Just drop a photo onto it and go into the filter menu and add the 6-axis filter.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdfiltermod/

After adjusting this, you can add another filter to boost the contrast...

When working with videos, you can click on the Blending... button when your filter is selected and put in frame ranges. That way you can have different adjustments for different frame ranges as needed. When you are all done, you can set the compression to x264 8-bit with CRF 18 and it will work with blu-ray players. You can remux in the original audio with mkvtoolnix. Virtualdub likes to convert the audio to PCM which takes up more space, so you can just replace the audio with the original afterwards. You then need to convert it to blu-ray format and burn it to disc using something like TSmuxer and ImgBurn.
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Been busy. Thanks for all that info! I won't need to convert an entire Blu-ray set, though, or even just one disc. I'll be happy enough watching the Blu-rays as is. But there will definitely be certain scenes and clips that I'll wanna cut out and save for... future... use... ... I'm use VirtualDub all the time but haven't tried its colour correction filters yet. Mostly, when I just wanna colour correct a short clip, I just use an image editor, and do the correction frame by frame. But I'll give the VirtualDub filters a shot. Thanks again.

If you haven't already done so, check out the original Jonny Quest series on blu-ray. This was one of those cartoon favorites my dad and I enjoyed watching together back in the day.
If my mother had known the fantasies I was having about Lynda, she'd have banned me from watching the show.

My original set of Battlestar Galactica (1978) dual-sided discs stopped working. They played the first time I watched them. The next time I took them out a few years later they all froze and wouldn't play part-way through. Many had that issue with both that set and also Buck Rogers. Since then I've never trusted dual-sided DVDs. When was the last time you took out your WW DVDs? I'd keep an eye on them - pop the discs in now and then and make sure you can skip each chapter okay. If it stops and locks up or if the picture starts breaking up and freezing, the discs are going bad.
I have BSG '78 and Buck Rogers on Blu-ray.

Regardless they are trash to me now. Other than the artwork which is far superior to the one sheet bluray this set is amazing. I kept switching back and forth with Linda Carter running in pantyhose on the beach and I wanted to cry. The ultimate Wonder Woman can sit with Batman 66 on my shelf. Bring on the Adventures of Superman for the holy trinity!

No Wonder Woman fan should be deterred by the tech talk in this thread. The DNR was also overstated. The detail absolutely destroys the DVD and I had both sets and they didn't look that different to me.

Linda Carter fans rejoice!
I'd love to see all the Superman shows released on Blu-ray. Adventures of Superman, Lois & Clark, Smallville (the complete series), the animated series... well, maybe not Superboy.

To me, she looks a little bit pasty in those Blu-ray screenshots, but I'll wait to watch 'em myself.

As I said in the above post, I'm in Ireland. When I preordered the show from Amazon, I thought it might get shipped out to me yesterday and I'd probably get it the first week in August. Well it shipped out Monday and arrived today!!! Am about to start watching it on this computer now. Very very nervous about how I'll find the colour and detail.

No worries. Happy to help! I am actually quite happy with the blu-ray's the way they are and don't have any desire to color correct them.

One thing also to share... I also often use Photoshop and do color correction one frame at a time. However, I have learned that by converting to images, you are converting between different colorspaces (YUV or whatever vs RGB) and back again when converting to blu-ray. These color conversions are not perfect and can introduce things like banding and the color can look "off" from the original. So the best thing to do is to extract the file from the blu-ray using makemkv and then work with it directly in Virtualdub. It all stays in the same colorspace and produces the best results.

Oh, great, thanks!! About to put the first disc in now to have a look. Wish me luck. Although, when I opened the box, a couple of little bits of blue plastic fell out. Hope that's not an omen.

Received my set today and picked up where I had left off in my first ever complete watch-through (having caught the show on UHF in re-runs in the early 80’s occasionally as a kid). Last night, I had watched “The Queen and the Thief” and “I Do, I Do” on iTunes. Both were unfortunately kind of snooze-fests… slow meandering plots and not a lot of action. Overall still a fan of the 70’s episodes and prefer them to the ones set in the 40’s (season 1) but these (and The Pied Piper w/Jan Brady before it) really tried my patience.

Today, the watch-through continued, but this time on blu-ray in true 1080p! The next episode was “The Man Who Made Volcanoes” - this one was one I was very much looking forward to. This was the mid-season 2 soft reboot where the opening credits changed. The show phased out the Joe Atkinson character and started emphasizing the “spy” aspects more. It’s great watching these in order from a production standpoint - the refresh was sorely needed and this episode’s plot had: a murderous hotel, spies from three different countries converging on a mad scientist’s Mexican retreat, dune buggy riding, a non-transformed Diana forced into hand-to-hand combat with a Chinese secret agent… this storyline was much more fun and action-packed compared to the last 3-4 episodes. As an aside, this one was filmed in the same part of greater LA that was used as a location in the Star Trek TNG two-parter “Descent” - and also was the exterior for Zordon’s Command Center in Power Rangers.

In terms of the blu-ray quality, judging from this episode alone, I was really impressed with how clean the print looks. I prefer the (slightly) cooler color palette on display here - and there’s still a very subtle/fine amount of grain. The clean-up to the prints is fantastic; this episode featured a lot of stock footage (of volcanos) and some optical effects w/the laser and they both looked very pristine (almost too good, if you’re most familiar w/the transmitted versions or DVDs). There were no scratches or dirt in the optical effects. The sound was good, dialogue was clear and a few of the explosions/transformations engaged my subwoofer. Haven’t checked out other episodes yet, but really like what I’ve seen of this remaster so far. I also watched about half of this one in simulated 3D on my LG OLED. Was a pretty good on-the-fly conversion with a lot of depth and some pop-outs. It certainly helps to have such cleaned up source material. Now onto Mind Stealers from Outer Space!

When I get to the end of season 3, I’m going to change the viewing order for the last five episodes as follows:
Phantom of the Roller Coaster Parts 1 & 2
The Boy Who Knew Her Secret Parts 1 & 2
The Man Who Could Not Die

This revised order will make the transition/move to Los Angeles (which would have set up a possible season 4) make sense in the context of the series. I kind of wish the episodes would have been presented in this order on the final disc.

Haven't watched any episodes all the way through but have checked out random scenes from various episodes on disc 1. Can't say I'm blown away. Can definitely see that blue tint, and there are some close-up shots where the lack of detail is extraordinary. Oh well. At least I have the series on Blu-ray.

The thing is the blu-rays don't appear to have much of any improvement in detail over the DVDs, thanks to the DNR, based on the screencaps. They look better because of the lack of DVD compression which doesn't hold up great on modern TVs, but as far as detail, it's about on par with the DVD. Which is a shame. They should look far sharper considering it's a brand new remaster but the DNR took away much of the benefit of the new remaster. So we're left with DVD-level detail, only without the DVD compression, so it looks much cleaner.

Fiddled around with the color correction filter in VirtualDub and managed to turn this

just by adjusting the intensity and saturation. I think it looks better now. Anyone else?

Gotta give a vote there. I overheard a middle aged man saying that Linda Carter was fat and pointing to some teen star teen twig of today as being better. I was just floored. Different strokes I guess but seriously she was and in lots of ways still is the height of beauty.

I actually like that movie and for obvious reasobs no Carter fan should be without.

Hmm, well it's an absurd statement yet I'd like to know in that demented mind when Lynda Carter would have allegedly been fat. I've been keeping an eye out on her career as I grew up with this show loving it to bits so stay it's in my top 3 shows ever, and aside from her being a stunning beauty without being covered with tons of make-up, she had not only a perfect body for any era, never got heavier, and was never anywhere near being fat unless compared to skeleton size 0 models, and even that would be absurd.
Oh people....like this stupid woman on the news months ago in America complaining about the lockdown and if people have to die it's their fate.
*shakes head.

Completely agree.

As for Lynda and the show. The thing is as a male that loves watching her obviously that is s big draw, but the show itself and Lyle Waggoner (can't believe he died this year) were extremely entertaining. I always get a kick out of the quirky aspects of the show and just how "fun" it was.

I also laugh everytime I saw Debra Winger try to spin.

Right now I am finishing a few shows but when it is Wonder Woman time it is going to be awesome!

Yeah I loved it for that and more. The whole visual aspect of the show, the costumes, the colors, the spinning, the occasional new costume (rollerskates! diving!), Andros, the whole thing, and oh so "innocent". I always preferred the present-day seasons.
Yes sad that Lyle Waggoner passed away.
I can't wait to get my set, I had pre-ordered it.

I'll throw in my 2 cents FWIW (about 2 cents, I guess ).

This is very preliminary because, having just received the set, I can only base my opinion on the pilot and a couple of episodes. I may have a different opinion next week.

Short version: I'm satisfied and I have no complaints of any consequence.

As I watched it, I was aware of how video releases can be a matter of compromise and opinion.

I started thinking, "Maybe this is a bit too magenta". Then I come here and read that some think it might be too blue. Perhaps it's to cool but I see color corrections here that make it look too warm to my eyes. And I think, "Well, if we shift this color, what will happen to the whites?"

For things like this, I don't think it's a matter of somebody being right or somebody being wrong. I think we all have our preconceptions of what "right" looks like. (Odd fact my left eye sees things with a distinctly cooler cast than my right eye).

So I try not to overthink it.

It looks fine to me. I'm good with it.

I personally prefer a warmer tint but it's a ***** trying to get the balance right. Every time I try to increase the redness in Lynda's... ... the walls behind her go pink.

No. I don't mind the latter but it looks like it's been pushed solely to "pop" and the whites are close to clipping. I have no problems with the former image at all.

I share your sentiment. There are worse ills of the world like Weird Science (first edition) or Predator. Slamming stuff as beautiiful as these just don't seem right.
