I've still never seen anything other than the theatrical cut. I think so highly of the original version that I'm kind of terrified of what happens if I see the Redux or Final and think less of the movie or, even worse, more of it.
What does it say about me if I think one of the greatest movies ever made could have been made even better? I obsess about stupid shit, by the way. |

I can't imagine the new stuff completely destroying the film.
The French plantation seems like an interesting idea, so even if it derails the story for a solid chunk of time, it seems to at least be doing something. Going backwards in time through Vietnam's history more explicitly, from American war to French occupation all the way back to the primordial setting of Kurtz's compound is definitely something. |

As much as I love In the Mouth of Madness (it's one of my favorite Carpenter films), I respectfully disagree. Memoirs of an Invisible Man is okay, Village of the Damned has its moments, but his other '90s films just make me sad. They don't have any aspect that feels like a Carpenter movie at all (VOTD barely does).
