I love it. Of course Virginia Madson is just heavenly just like in The Hot Spot.

Great films!

The urban feel of the film felt fresh and it’s unusual for a horror film to have so many daylight scenes. It worked for me. I will be going to see the new one for sure.

Look forward to reading your review/opinions.

On a sadder note, Ned Beatty has passed away.

Agreed, very entertaining movie. Definite 4K purchase for me as well.

Remember code 8? If you don't see the short film hidden below. It was average, but I am curious where the sequel will take it.

[Show spoiler]

Netflix Nabs Robbie and Stephen Amell’s ‘Code 8’ Sci-Fi Thriller Sequel - Hollywood Reporter 6/14

Quote:
Cousins Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell have sold the sequel to their sci-fi thriller Code 8 to Netflix.

The streaming giant picked up the global rights to Code 8: Part II in a deal with XYZ Films. The acquisition marks Netflix’s first English language original feature from Canada after the streaming giant took the global rights to Canadian director Ricardo Trogi’s Le Guide de la famille parfaite (The Guide to the Perfect Family), the French language dramedy about an over-parenting society that got a theatrical release in Quebec and a simultaneous release in the rest of the world on Netflix.

There is something that has been frustrating me lately related to my passion of collecting films. More and more, we have a situation where a Blu-ray purchase of a original film may end up with potential sequels only landing exclusively on streaming services.
I give you ‘Knives Out’. I own the film on disc but the sequels are going to Netflix. It’s getting to the stage where I’m far more picky when it comes to franchise stuff as I fear future sequels won’t be released on Blu-Ray.

It feels a bit naff having the first film in my disc collection but essentially being locked out of future sequels.

Another example is ‘Greenland’. I was considering a purchase but I heard today a sequel is on the way and it will go to the highest bidder. Presumably that could mean Apple, Amazon, Netflix etc.

It’s true though. I enjoyed Knives Out and now, I can’t own the sequels. Meaning I won’t have the set to enjoy.

Criterion releases Netflix content. I have a few myself. It's not impossible they will see a disc release.

Average is a good description of Code 8. I bought it and am not either mad about owning it nor thrilled about owning it.

Netflix has the deepest of pockets to purchase properties outright like they did with Knives Out.

The following just for fun. No attempt was made to find the value of the entertainment arm of a company, i.e. Universal as part of Comcast. In terms of valuation:

Amazon - 315 Billion
Apple - 2,080 Billion
CBS (Parmount) - 26 Billion
Comcast - 72 Billion
Disney - 122 Billion
Lionsgate - ??
MGM - ?? (now owned by Amazon)
Netflix - 30 Billion
Sony - 45 Billion
Warner - ??
