Exactly, that was part of her character. T'Challa was played regal and stoic, people complain that every character is "samey" (cracking jokes) but they do a different approach and its awful. Brie is a talented, Oscar winning actor yet people are butt hurt that their fan casting choice didn't get selected. Seems like a lot of hate is because of pro-woman statements Brie made is public and thats whack.

Agreed. I.enjoy the Captain Marvel movie a lot and think Brie is great in the role. Seems like a good person from what I can see as well

I thought it was a very disappointing movie. Not just because of Brie. The terrible portrayal of the Skrulls was probably the worst part. Mendehlson's voice sounded muffled behind the Skrull mask. Turning him into a comedic joke just ruined any mystique or fascination the Skrulls might've had. The thing with the cat ruining Fury's eye was another terribly misplaced joke that ruins the mood of the MCU storyline. The writing gave Captain Marvel no emotional connection with anyone to help the audience relate to her. Most MCU origin movies have some kind of love interest to give the character some noticeable humanity. The mythology around her powers was just confusing. The whole thing was forgettable, and just made me feel sorry I wasted my time going to the theater and sitting there for 2 hours.

I'd wager it's nothing more than pandemic squeeze. They have both tv shows and movies to put out now and the movies were bunched up a bit due to trying to get back on track after the delays for the last year. Ms Marvel was meant to be this year but got moved back so it has happened pretty recently.

The pandemic is causing delays all over the world for all different types of things. I'm still waiting for the Art of Black Widow book to be released and I can't even find a solid date, just a bunch of different ones at different retailers that all seem like guesses right now. The Art of Wandavision book got delayed pretty recently from October to January next year and I can't even find a listing for the Shang-Chi one. It's just the world for the next while.

I would prefer they focus on (and improve) the Captain Marvel character. The Carol Danvers / Nick Fury buddy-cop dynamic is the highlight of the first film. I'd like to see more of that. I hope they don't sideline her in her own movie to make way for some wannabes from the TV shows.

Ironically, Monica was Captain Marvel way before Carol was in the comics.
